It appears that some people think that how good a team we are, if we are in the CL is the prime motivator for a player signing for us.
I am sure it has a bearing, and for some it may be crucial, but surely there are many other factors;
First MONEY. How much we will pay, will we out bid the other teams. Salary, it must be a big factor.
Smaller reasons include
The city, and climate
Language
Connections and friends in the team
Manager
Advice of family
Agent pushing one way or another.
Fame of the team.
Prospects of first team football
I cannot imagine a player saying I would rather to go Genk or Lille rather than United because they qualified for the Champions League.
It's important, but certainly not everything.
You may fancy playing for Klopp or Pep, but how long will they be there?
.
Can we get new signings

100% agree mont, I'm hoping Ole can do it, but we'll have to wait and see.

It will be very rare you to be competing with those for players. CL may be a tipping point if you are going for the same player as City, Liverpool or a big European team though.
But at the end of the day it is money. Players leave CL teams for low PL teams rather often.

Ghent maybe, but not Genk. Both rather than Hounslow though.

Of course Utd can sign quality players. It’s just a bit more difficult. We signed the likes of Suarez, Mane and Firmino without CL football. There are players out there on the way up that would leap at the opportunity of Utd. Just means the superstars are difficult to get.

Oddly its the superstars we've signed while out of the champions league... Di Maria, pogba, zlatan
Hasn't worked for us tho

Naby8 has a point.
Liverpool signed guys who weren't necessarily considered to be the best in their position but were up and coming players with plenty to prove and the ability to back it up.
That's what we should be looking at. Not a pocketful of money but the potential to win things for a massive football club and earn that right. Our three summer signings all fitted that ideal, and have all performed pretty well so far imo

The only reason good players would sign for a club that is in CL, is if the chances are high that the club would in a 1 or 2 years be in CL. If United were very close to being a top 4 side, then quality players would join and would probably enjoy giving that push to take the club to make the top 4.
Definitely money helps also.
