Put yourself in EFL’s shoes:

Club have ‘effectively’ bought ground back and paid nothing.

Club are being charged nothing for nearly 3 years, to play in one of biggest grounds in England andvreap the rewards of high attendances.

Is that fair compared to other clubs?

Is this fair according to FFP?

It doesn't effect FFP. Deferred rent is accounted for over the term of the lease.

There'll be no P&L benefit, just a cash flow benefit.

You can't conflate this with Wednesday, Derby, Villa.

It’s not deferred rent it’s rent free.

It doesn't matter what you call it, it's accounted for in the same way. It's the total cost of the lease that is relevant and is accounted for on a pro-rata basis.

It doesn't effect FFP.

Nobody knows that the club will be charged rent.

It will be wrong for the club to be paying to rent the ground. There's no disputing that.

But no one knows that we will be next year. And until there is evidence that says we will be, surely we have better things to do than complain about something that we don't know will happen.

Most of us anyway....

Stoopo talking nonsense

What you did was the exact right thing, they wouldn’t even bother you about it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest I did sit trying to figure why HMRC would be bothered at all.

If I was charging £1000 per month, but only declaring £800 on my tax return each year, then they'd quite rightly have issue. But me undervaluing and receiving less was a personal business choice and not impacting the tax payer i'd have thought?

I do quite a bit of tax work and with HMRC, so know they can work in mysterious ways at times.... so didn't want to completely dismiss the thought ….

Germany - rent free would = scrotes … !!!! I wanted the house back in more or less one piece !!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They aren’t interested in those who rent out a bit cheaper to achieve occupancy - but try letting it go your family for 50% of the true market value and see where that gets you if they get wind of it.

It could be the same with Leeds. Not charging rent might be seen as circumnavigating tax.

And just to make it clear for you.

You charge any rent at all. HM can’t do anything and don’t want to anything.

It’s clear.

What you can’t do is charge no rent, then try to claiming the expenses against. Which is pretty obvious, it’s fraud.

So just think about what your saying, instead of spreading wild things about, HM will hunt you down if your don’t charge market value.

You can charge WHAT you like 👍
