Joining the Elite.

From the outside looking in, Spurs look as though they are primed to take on the elite sides in world football.

Appreciate José is probably public enemy number 1 given his Chelsea tenures. But look at the guys record. He’s a magnet for winning trophies and could propel you into proper title contenders.

Emotions aside, I personally think it’s a master stroke to swap a manager who’s won nothing for the most decorated manager doing it.

Excited to see how it plays out; I personally hope you go on to win the title under him.

1.89 - Jose Mourinho’s points per game ratio at Manchester United (1.89) was exactly the same as Mauricio Pochettino’s at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League (1.89). Replacement.

United's squad was terrible at the time.

Still won them trophies and was competing for the top 4, if not higher.

We never competed for top 4 under him in the first season or the season he was sacked pal.

Pretty clear you’re all writing Mourinho off and feel it isn’t the right appointment.

Correct.

interesting article.

i think that the three main issues are...

1. people don't like that poch was sacked, mutual agreement would have softened the blow, but most accept that the form was unacceptable and had no signs of turning around.

2. concern around style of play we can expect under mourinho. that said the football under poch lately has been some of the worst i have ever seen at spurs.

3. how will mourinho operate without a huge transfer budget.

his trophy record speaks for itself, but is he a good fit for spurs?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’d say you have the core of players he’d need. Solid defensive outfit with some outstanding forward players that can win games.

Be interesting to see if Levy invests, because this is the prime moment to challenge for a title.

You’ve got one of the very few managers who can compete with Pep and have the core of players already there.

shame he can't compete with klopp though.

Jose won the treble at United though.... Won just under 60% of his games there too.

We'll have to wait and see what he does with us.

It really isn't though. It's a terrible moment to challenge for the title.

City and Liverpool will dominate the game for years. They are so far away from Spurs it will take 250m
(you need 4-5 players) just to catch up. City have a 2nd string which Spurs would love. You've a dodgy keeper, 2 average fullbacks, 2 aged CBs, no defensive mid, no Kane backup etc.

By the way, my club are even worse but i'm not suggesting that we'll challenge for the title any time soon.

He won the lowest amount of PL games in the top 6 during his time at United. 50/93 games is about 53%, It’s not an improvement on what you have is it?

not overall... but its an improvement on current form of 6 wins in 24, which is 25%

In what regard?

Mourinho’s career eclipses Klopp’s massively. Love Klopp, likeable guy and a top top manager. But let’s not start throwing stupid statements around just because he’s currently in a better position.
