Defeat today but nothing major to worry about. We will learn from this type of game.
We had them by the throat and let them go, in time we will learn to control this type of game when it's like this and we are on top.
I am full of optimism going forward, especially for next season when the youngsters have a full season under their belts.
Its all looking good and I can only see a very very good side developing here. that will go onto much bigger things.
Today I think Reece James should have started, I have said it before and will say again , I still think Dave needs replacing.
Wont get Chillwell in January but go all out come season end for him.
Get Rudiger back in and I would still consider bringing another quality centre back in.

Not sure why the op has called out azpi. Was our second best player yesterday after Kante. Has been in great form actually since a shaky start. We are missing rudiger that’s the long and short of it.

Yeah, its LB rather than RB where we have the problem. Emerson is better than Alonso, but I remain unconvinced that he is the solution.

Agree with both Nick and the OP if that makes sense.
I agree that Azpi should be replaced with Reece James and thought he would struggle yesterday for pace, but as the game turned out that never actually materialised and I also thought that he had a really good game yesterday.

I think he will be perfect to help James development. I think we are improving, even defensively. Our main issue yesterday was after we took the lead we slowed to a snails pace and lost all our tempo. Jorginho then started repeatedly giving the ball away. We are not a Mourinho team who can sit back on a lead with the players we have (too many attack minded). We should have kept trying to get at city because it was working every time.

We did appear to back off just ahead of City scoring,and then city pressed much better and it proved too much for us and our passing game went to pot

It was a great game - football as oughter be with not a parked bus within a million miles. At City we like Frank, he put in a great year for us - and tbf we gave him the opportunity to score against the only premier league side he hadn't done before. If we fall short this year - and we probably will, I would love it simply love it if Chels won it. Imagine it - the whole of Merseyside would be on suicide watch!

Yeah I should of said arguably our best.
I liked Hazard but he could be a bit hit and cold, I'm finding Mount, Pullisic, Tammy etc as exciting to watch it more consistently.

I’m not really sure there’s something to learn, with regard to controlling these type of games. I’m not sure it’s really possible to go to the Etihad and do that for an extended period of time, they’re just too good for anyone to do that.
Are Chelsea fans worried by their inability to win the big games? You’ve been competitive in most of them, but your defence is really letting you down.

I would wager 99% of chelsea fans are not worried. We have solidified slowly. Man city are just a different beast. Since emerson has come back in and RJ is pushing azpi our defence has got better, we just need rudiger back and kante to full health.
We have won big games too. ajax, lille both away. Only lost to Liverpool on pens in super cup.
Ajax and liverpool scored their goals against us from set pieces, if we stop giving away silly fouls on the edge of our box (alonso main culprit) then we should see a upturn in clean sheets.
