Week 8

Arsenal v Newcastle

I felt Rose could be got at down the right for Arsenal and with the forwards they have they exploited this, Sabitzer getting the better of him and his cross was thundered in by Aubameyang on 14 mins, Maddison was playing a key role today for Arsenal, against Kante but he always managed to release the ball before kante got on top of him, he turned provider just before half time, Aubameyang using his pace as the through ball was perfectly placed between Hummels and Rose, the No.9 rounded the keeper to make it 2-0 at half time. the second half was more even as Newcastle were having a bit of luck getting it to there front 3, Ederson however was in fine form, as the half went on Arsenal took the foot off, but it was to prove costly as the away side managed to claw one back, with Oxlaide Chamberlin and Suarez on, they managed to get at the defence and pull it back to 2-1, Arsenal bucked up their ideas tho and stayed tight until full time and saw the game out

Arsenal 2 - 1 Newcastle
Aubameyang x 2(Sabitzer, 14)(Maddison, 43)
Suarez(Oxlaide Chamberlin, 81)
MOTM - Maddison

Norwich v Spurs

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day as the young home side kept Spurs out Soyuncu and Ake in fantastic form to keep out Aguero and Co, the away side were pretty dominant, but just couldn't find the back of the net, they huffed and puffed it just wasn't to be today, Norwich had a few chances themselves but Dolberg was well looked after also, despite the scoreline it will probably be one of the better goaless draws you will see this season

Norwich 0 - 0 Spurs
MOTM - Soyuncu

Liverpool v Leicester

Unfortunately for the home side their front 3 were pretty isolated for huge parts of the game, this down the dominance of the away sides midfield and back 4, they couldn't break them down and had to resort to long balls, which Varane and Laporte gobbled up, Leicester took the lead, when a header from the back from Varane reached Neves he turned and played wide to Hazard, he beat Weiser and cut inside, driving into the danger area, he slipped it into Ronaldo who buried it with ease, the back 4 of Leicester were exceptional today, despite having one of the best forward lines in the league Liverpool just couldn't break them down, they went further behind early 2nd half with Hazard again beating Weiser with ease, crossing in and it was Ronaldo again, leaping like a Salmon to beat de Ligt and put the away side further ahead., Drama unfolded tho late on as Sterling drove down the left, he was cynically chopped down by Pavard on the edge of the box the ref gave a free kick, but VAR pounced and awarded a penalty, Pavard saw red and Leicester were down to 10 for the remaining 10 mins, Sane just on, was hauled back off, looking fairley p'sd off, kicking a water bottle as he stormed off down the tunnel, Kane took the penalty and scored. Pressuere mounted on the ten man Leicester, but they held out for a good away win

Liverpool 1 - 2 Leicester
Ronaldo x 2(Hazard x 2, 23, 48)
Kane (Pen, 79)
Pavard 78
MOTM - Hazard

Portsmouth v Bournemouth

A strong attacking line up for the home side saw them take an early lead, Dybala slipping in Alcacer to slot home (8), Bournemouth are a tidy team however and got back into it when Oyarzabal got space down the left, a nice cross in and Cunha got in ahead of Koulibaly to tap home(27) it was end to end both having good chances but it was the home side who went in front just before the break, again Dybala creator as he found Werner in space and he curled it round the keeper into the top right hand corner(44)
Second half the young Bournemouth side pushed Portsmouth back for a while and were well rewarded when again Oyarzabal got round Atal who was too high up the pitch, he drove into the box and fired in a low shot under the keeper for a fine individual goal(57), Portsmouth turned the screw tho and began to throw in attack after attack, they were awarded a freekick on the edge after a daft foul by Murilo, Draxler swung it in and Koulibaly up from the back smashed it home with his big forehead. Bournemouth pushed on but couldn't get that 3rd equaliser.

Portsmouth 3 - 2 Bournemouth

Alcacer(Dybala, 8) Werner(Dybala, 44), Koulibaly(Draxler, 82)
Cunha (Oyarzabal, 27), Oyarzabal(57)
MOTM - Oyarzabal
