To be fair to Liverpool it was hard on them last season to win so many games and still finish 2nd. If they can maintain that form through this season and this time win the title then fair play to them. I think it's theirs to lose now, but you never know.

It's not just about Liverpool dropping points, but also about one of the chasers maintaining a very high level of form to take advantage. You'd have to say the most likely team to do that are Man City given the depth of their squad.

It is great, however, to see Chelsea and Leicester up there in the mix. Everyone was predicting a two horse race and it's far more fun when others get in amongst it. It's actually been good for Chelsea having the transfer ban as it seems to have united them around a good core of younger players. It's probably also been good for us to lose Maguire. It's strange how things work out sometimes.

This isn't a two horse race, it's a one horse canter - yet another tedious season with Liverpool strolling to a title.

The fact that anyone anywhere is suggesting that Leicester even have a hope of challenging for the title, 3 years after winning it says these are the greatest times we’ll probably ever enjoy as Foxes fans. Let’s appreciate that.

I’d also love us to take advantage of this opportunity to try and win the FA Cup. For me getting in to Europe and achieving that feat should be our target over the next 1-3 seasons.

As for Liverpool and Man City, I agree it’s great that the title is not just AO e or two horse race. The more horses the merrier and more enjoyable a spectacle.

As for Sheff Utd. I think the hype around them is more than justified. Having seen them play 3 times this season they are a brilliant team playing attractive football under less than modest investment. I hope they go on the achieve good things under Wilder because they deserve it. They alerted a pleasure to watch yesterday and very unlucky to draw. Also unlucky to lose to us. That’s football.

Mersey - Don't get me wrong; Sheffield United have brought something interesting to the league and are standing out - much more than Norwich or Villa, who are both performing in a way where you go "seen it before". It's more observing that we're currently second and nobody's really even blinking, which may be a mark of how far we've come.

And yes, these are surely the halcyon days of our futures.

Not wishing to be a pedant , but isn’t: “halcyon days of our futures” a contradiction in terms?

Actually I added the last bit to avoid a contradiction, given that halcyon days are considered to be in the past.
i.e. In the future these will be considered the halcyon days.

That and a little poetic licence.

In the future, these days will be considered halcyon.

There we go, for the pedant in us all 🙃.

I score Dunge 9.5 for the principle of his post though.

After a VAR intervention the score has been recalibrated to 8.5
