Getting to know your favourite Britpop band

Hi babe

I grew up listening to Britpop during the 90s and can count quite a few albums of this genre in my all time favs. In my view there hasn't been anything exciting from British guitar bands since unless you want to include Arctic Monkey's. Radiohead I wouldn't really classify in this field anymore.

Here are some that come to my mind from the 90s. I am not including the heavyweights of Blur and Oasis as they are too obvious. Big fan nonetheless.

1 Ocean Colour Scene
2 Pulp
3 The Charlatans
4 Suede
5 Cast

There are lots more of course

I have to second Palmer's Pixies shout. Though they're not Britpop.

Supergrass were my go-to Brit band for that period, and they got better as they aged. Idlewild were heavy on the rotation too.

I was teenager of the 90`s but was never really that much of a fan of the Brit Pop scene and much preferred the American Grunge scene. Suede would be my pick from the OP`s choices though.

I loved the grunge movement, and still like guitar orientated stuff these days. The 90`s was great time for rock bands, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Therapy?, Smashing Pumpkins, Mudhoney, Queens of The Stoneage etc etc etc... the list is endless.

We are due another explosion of quality Rock and Roll bands coming through, some of the new stuff around today is a bit meh.

Blur.

Blur were good. I know it's an obvious choice and all that but Parklife was for me the classic britpop song.

I saw Suede live in Bristol in 1996. They were great, even though Bernard Butler had left by then. They started Britpop off, but soon distanced themselves from it on 'Dog Man Star.'

OCS were good but I never got beyond their singles to their albums, so it might be worth a look to go back and revisit.

Love Blur but think that song is terrible tbh.

Much prefer The universal or Beetlebum
