It was always going to be a rollercoaster, but at least some excitement is finally coming back to the club. Great atmosphere last night, especially second half.
After the usual slow start, and awful first half, Spurs hit their straps second half and gave us the result we all wanted, and qualification for the knock out stages of the CL. Back to back wins also for the first time I think since February, first two games for Mourinho, and he wins them both, let`s make it an hat-trick against Bournemouth at the weekend.
OK, now for the positives and downsides from last night.
Positives, Aurier had a great game, and crowned his fine performance with a top, top finish, and looks to have now cemented the right back spot for himself, which solves at least one problem at the back. Harry Kane looked back to his world class best with his finishes. Dele had a brilliant second half, Eriksen put in a peach of a ball for the final goal, and their were other positives, like Jose making a decision after 30 minutes, and hooking Dier off, decision made, none of the indecision and leaving it until the 75th minute to try to alter the course of the game.
Negatives, the defence as a unit, just cannot defend set pieces, and looked pretty shambolic in the first half, especially in the centre of defence, and in the left back position. Conceeding two goals in the last 17 minutes against West Ham and two goals in the first 19 minutes against Olympiacos, meant that Spurs had conceded four goals in 36 minutes of competitive football. Pretty obvious a new left back, if it is not to be Sessignon, has to be purchased, along with a really commanding central defender. I also though Gazza was very indecisive at times at coming for the ball, although I will excuse him, as in general he has been pretty good. Also still not struck on Winks in midfield, just doesn`t do enough for me. Is N`Dombele in Mourinho`s thinking, only time will tell us that. Also looks like Lo Celso is not, I don`t expect him to be at the club after this season. Four months at the club, and sure he has had an injury, but just doesn`t seem to be flavour of the month for either our previous manager or the current one.
All in all though seasons seems to be coming back on track, after the awful start, and whilst a couple of wins does not mean a lot overall, it is a positive start for the new regime. Get the defence sorted, and Spurs have a front four to put the feat of God up in side in the world.
Pretty Happy this morning. CL football going into the New Year, FA Cup still to come, and hopefully a gradual climb up the table to at least a respectful position.

I’m amazed at how your new manager has highlighted the frailties of your team that the rest of us and a handful of Spurs fans no doubt could also see
His Press Conferences so far have been concentrating on mentality
