Valencia v Chelsea

Well, maybe everyone was too tense to comment - but that was almost as insane as our Ajax game. Valencia missed 3 sitters plus a penalty, but their second goal was ludicrously lucky. A draw is better for us though. But all 3 top teams in this group have been fantastic - sad that one of them won’t continue in the CL.

Decent result away in Valencia and a crazy game. Positives and negatives..

James, good chance creator
Kova ran the game. Guy has great potential and we have him coming of age at the right time. For me, our second best midfielder.
Pulisic had some smart play. Not perfect but the thins he does well for a winger, it’s not what young wingers are normally good at.

On other hand, Jorgi average, Christensen poor. Azpi not really bringing anything at LB. and a Tammy injury and Kepa continues to make a mistake each game (not referring to the goal referring to the playing it out mistake). Willy poor

I think a midfield three of Kova, Kante and Jorgi suffers the same lack of balance it did under Sarri. Though it does work better under Lampard as there’s more freedom for Kova and Kante to break lines on the ball. Still, you’d think a player like Mount gives better balance tbh, even though the other three are very good players doesn’t mean they all fit on the pitch best.

How lucky have you lot been in the CL? Should have been smashed by Ajax, Valencia should have destroyed you today, amount of chances they missed. Seems lampard leads a very charmed life, but all credit for the way you try to play.

We had a lot of luck today, except the times we didn’t, like their second goal. You could also say the same thing about Valencia being lucky in our home game, so swings and roundabouts.

We do give up waaaaay too many chances though. They seem to cut through us each time they attacked

Three great players who can't play together. The only system which could fit them all into the same side is a diamond with Mount at the tip - which interestingly we could probably play provided Emerson & James were the full backs. An option if we get freak injuries to all our wingers at the same time.

They missed chances yes, but the referee might as well have been running about in a Valencia top. Shocking performance from him

----------------------------------------------------------------------maybe in the end but he was talking rubbish on the live thread at 1-1 when we had more shots and more possession up to that point. Valencia had some great chances but we did too. Kantes was a sitter for me if he took a touch, most, if not all their chances were all after we missed a chance too. We shouldn't have pushed so hard for a 3rd. Was suicide
