If this goes ahead it will mean the Kop will be the smallest of the 4

my memories of anfield , going there for weekends at my grandparents, xmas day , going to the match with my granddad and uncles (all everton fans), are from the late 70s to early 90s

the last xmas we had at holbeck street was 1990

my grandparents both died in the years after that, and i havent much reason to go back there since (other than the occasional time i go to a match there)

I have alot of nostalgia and childhood memories from that part of Liverpool...alot of family history too

Wow me too. I had two uncles one was a season ticket holder at Everton the other at Liverpool. They were both mates of Joe Fagan who lived around the corner on Lynhome Road. My mother was an Everton fan and so is my older brother who was born in Liverpool, Will have to swap stories some time

my granddad knew Joe fagan too !

I vividly remember walking down Lynhome with my granddad in the mid 80s, just after Fagan had retired, and there he was was outside his house...

my granddad had a little chat with him

Your Grandad must have known my mothers' family that has to be the case.

i agree he must have

he knew just about everyone in that part of anfield

when he died in 96, his funeral service was at all saints....the procession went down townsend lane, everyone in the elm and the winnie stood outside raised a glass to him ..fitting as he did spend an awful lot of his adult life in those pubs

The new stand is pure Americana, big and brash. Even opened up Stanley Park entrance. Can't go wrong with these guys if they do the Anfield Road end too.

I think it will be the last step in development.

They've given us a fair bit!

a) world class training facilities

b) main stand paid for itself based off their loans and underwriting.

c) tidy up of the Centenary stand and rebranding with more meaningful title.

d) slightly expanded kop end.

e) radically expanded commerical enterprise to support the onfield team.

f) Jurgen Klopp

The issues for me are transport, crowd safety and the locality.

I can see from the pictures issued that the roof in the models of the new anfield road stand are at least intended to be "connected" to an expanded sir kenny stand. The way the roof will connect to the main stand has the identical shape to the other side.

However for me this would be something that would be extremely unlikely. The sir kenny has the corporate boxes now so expanding this stand would add a third tier which will be largely GA at a huge cost. There would be potential to add 8k there i suppose but the current centenary stand might not allow it. It would take at least 3 rows of houses as well (and this is the biggest issue)

I think 61k will be our lot. It's competitive at least.

I hope we see this happening within 2/3 years.

61,000 is good capacity

these days ofcourse gate receipts aren't by a long way the main source of revenue for top flight clubs

however, if liverpool had a 90,000 capacity stadium, i've no doubt they be able to fill it every home match
