This is not scapegoating Winks, as the whole team were a joke last night including Kane, but what does Harry Winks offer us in midfield? All I see in the last year or so of properly watching him is a neat and tidy player, who’s nice on the ball, but doesn’t really offer anything going forward and most certainly doesn’t offer any protection at the back. A crab like player who pretty much goes from side to side, then forward a little, but never really dictates the midfield. Can anyone put up a case against this ?
NDombele comes on and completely changes the flow from the midfield with his driving runs towards the penalty area. NDombele you can see is making a difference to our attack, where as Winks offers no threat whatsoever. No way am I saying sell Winks because as a squad player he is great, but along with Sissoko they both get far to many games for my liking and that’s also from our old manager to
NDombele should be starting every single game, unless he’s seriously got a fitness problem that stops him from playing 2 games in a row. What is the issue? I really think a top class Mourinho type defensive midfielder is desperately needed because let’s honest, Dier just isn’t good enough either, but unfortunately it looks like we have no choice but to play Dier until we sign someone in that position.

Don, Winks is not good enough mate, neither is Sissoko or Dier. Problem is the previous managers transfer dealings were supposed to plug the game in midfield and at fullback, but thus far Sessignon is nowhere to be seen, N`dombele seems incapable of starting more than one game a week, and Lo Celso where is he? All three have been at the club for four months now, and none has nailed down a first XI spot, something not right.

Winks is a useless stat machine of pointless passes & Sissoko covers a lot of ground getting in the way but hides from the ball & when he does have it is totally incapable of doing anything with it..... Complete joke of a paring. They have started more games as a pair in CM than anyone else in 2019 and look at the results..... The problem is very obvious. They provide ZERO cover to the defense and their distribution is so poor it leaves the from 4 isolated (see last night)

absolutely agree Diamond-been saying this for a while. this central midfield area is absolutely pivotal-if they can provide any defence cover-then the whole team suffers-and has been happening for a while now.

Winks and Sissoko should be no more than squad players, the fact they have played so often for us over the past 12-18 months speaks volumes
They simply don't protect the defence nor offer a great deal on the ball. Winks is neat and tidy but NDombele makes him look amateur
Sissoko, well Jose said he doesn't see him as a CM and has already gone back on his word, hopefully he learns from this game to never do it again unless its a cup game against fodder
NDombele and Lo Celso are no worse defensively and should be played together until we sign a DM because Dier is even more useless
