A bit like VAR, my view on the new hand ball rule has changed as i have watched it in action.
I am referring to the "if it touches any part of your hand/arm that leads to a goal then its handball".
To me the rules seemed clear so we all play to them. But when you see it in action it seems unfair. The Alli goal the other night, where they replayed it over and over to see if it brushed his shoulder in the slightest of ways - if it had and the goal ruled out you start to question what the point is. Do we really have to analyse everything in total minute detail to determine whether there was any contact however minimal? It sucks the life out of football.
You might say, well if it touched his arm, even just brushing it ,then it's handball BUT when you flip it around, a defender can get away with the ball touching his arm with no penalty given - if its by his side, hit from close range or rebounds off a part of his body on to his arm then no handball, no penalty. Could be a goal bound shot or, like TAA the other week, a cross which would have found its way to an attacker. His arm was pretty much up at 45 degrees (7:30 on a clock face) and hit it full on, no pen. If Alli's had brushed his arm ever so slightly then the goal would be ruled out - to me these scenarios do not sit well together.
Sanchez scored last week, when a shot hit him on the leg it bounced up hit his arm and he scored. Hand ball, goal not given. Now if that was a defender then its no hand ball, no penalty, play on!
I can understand this more as although not deliberate in any way it gave him a clear advantage - but then ask yourself did TAA gain an advantage in that situation and it clearly did.
This seems all wrong to me and when you factor in VAR taking an eternity to look at a 1000 slow-mos, and even then not always delivering what most think is a correct decision, then its even more bloody annoying!
It's beginning to ruin the game and needs a rethink.

I agree the handball rule is ridiculous. It was better before they changed it. Handball should only be intentional or reckless.
If it hits a hand the ref should have VAR to assist him and from there its up to the ref to decide if the handball was intentional or reckless.

Having different rules for attackers and defenders is pathetic. Proof that the game is run by idiots who've probably never played the game.

It will be depend who the officials are which way they come down with these decisions, we see it time and time again, it`s a simple as that.
Some clubs get penalties, some don`t. Take the Bournemouth handball also, stops a cross with his hand and nothing given when it was clear as day.
VVD the other night, the game is 2-1 to Pool and he scythes down the Everton attacker when through on goal, nothing is given by the corrupt officials, it should have been a red card and penalty kick to Everton. That would have been 2-2 and Everton playing 10 men for the rest of the game, which may just have saved Silva his job.
Too many referees have agendas, bottle decisions or simply don`t want to go against their favourite clubs. A sad state of affairs, but that`s what goes on.

Some of the decisions in the modern game are ridiculously baffling. Used to be a penalty given when it was a clear foul in the penalty area, now you only have to barely touch them, like Sissoko did the other night, and the ref points to the spot. It is fast becoming a non contact sport.
On the other hand, you are allowed to grapple players at corner kicks, haul them to the floor, and the ref doesn`t blink an eyelid.
I just don`t get the modern game sometimes.

TBH the players are the problem!
The thing with that pen was Sisokko stood on his foot, Rashford takes another stride and then he went down. It wasnt the contact that made him fall. It was just the fact that there was contact. Kane has 2 pens not given this season when he has waited for contact, felt it and gone down, exaggerating the undeniable contact. I dont like it and he hasnt had a pen as a result but this is no different to Rashford or any other player hitting the deck because there has been any sort of contact
IMO the biggest smear on the game is this exaggeration and this above everything else should be addressed. I mean, who has ever sat watching a match and become wound up by having attackers in a defensive wall. No one, that's who but FIFA take it upon themselves to solve this problem which doesnt exist. Sort out the fecking players. Lets not encourage pathetic exaggeration like we have sen from so many players in the area. Its spreading to defenders now, just throwing themslevs to the floor to get a VAR review on a goal, like Lovren the other week. Christ if thats all the effort to takes to push him over then he'd better stay inside this weekend as the forecast is for a slight breeze.
The hand ball and VAR reviews are just adding to the issues regarding the integrity of the game.

Agreed, Rashford went down as if shot.

players will soon have to wear electronic kit that detects contact with other players and sends info to VAR which then figures out the decision.
i think Sissoko would not have been penalized had this scenario benn in force since the contact would not have registered.

I think in both cases of defence and attack, it should be handball if your arm is away from the body. If you gain an advantage, deliberate or not, then it should be handball. TAAs one should have been a penalty imo.
One of the most ridiculous VAR decisions of the season was Dele Alli punching the ball over his head against Everton and not conceding a penalty.

Have you ever actually played football?
Arms move away from your body. It’s just a natural occurrence and anyone who thinks that is somehow a sign of intention to use the hand/arm to affect the ball is talkin utter nonsense.
The handball law is a mess precisely because of opinions like this.
Fact is, you’ve either tried to use your arm to gain an advantage or you haven’t. If the ball just happens to hit your arm, when it’s in a position that is just where it happens to be at that moment, it shouldn’t be penalised.
It’s a mess because the people running the game haven’t got a clue.
