Aston Villa v Leicester pre match

With the games coming so thick and fast at the moment there isn’t an awful lot to talk about, especially when we keep winning games. That’s seven games in a row won now. An amazing run and is the sort we would have killed for previously at this level. 21 points from 7 games - wow! Also, whisper it quietly, but a certain striker has also scored in 7 consecutive games.

Aston Villa away may not have the glamour of past years. They are another club who demonstrate how far we’ve progressed. They were unequivocally the biggest club in the midlands for so long, but would now look at our players and squad with some envy. I’ve never disliked Villa despite them technically being a midlands rival. In fact, when Martin O’Neill first went there I actively wanted to see them do well.

I’m not expecting an easy game here. They look a bit hit and miss to me. I’ve seen them look very good, but they’ve also lost a few and sit just above the relegation zone. A good season for them is probably mid table security this year.

I’m not sure about team and formation for this game. I thought the Watford game was poor, but there were mitigating circumstances in the way Watford set up and approached the game. Even so if I was Brendan I might be tempted to make changes for this game. I find myself wanting Perez to do well, but don’t expect him to and wonder whether others have earned a start. Praet maybe should start a game at some point and it might be a game to give someone like Tielemans a rest.

The key to rotation is not to disrupt momentum and make sure the team is still well balanced. It’s a delicate thing to do and get right. Rodgers may just decide to play it again but, if that happens, I’d be looking for a bit more freshness and energy than the Watford game.

Having said all that who cares if we keep on winning? 7/7 could we really manage 8? What a time to be a Leicester fan

There's a few links between us, most notably managers of the past. Bit of a friendly rivalry as your were.

Something does stand out though, didnt we get done 5-0 once? Was that under PT? Can't remember exactly.

The way Villa play should suit our game plan, with them being at home may also help. Im looking forward to an expansive match and plenty of goals. Take Grielish out of the equation and we win comfortably

I don’t think anything unusual will be tried with the starting 11 today. As much as anything, it’s a solid sort of formation and Rodgers is comfortable making adjustments for the second half. For me, Praet didn’t excel enough midweek to start today, while Gray’s still coming back from injury/illness/whatever it was. There’s an outside possibility that Albrighton might get a start in place of one of the wingers, but I can’t shake the feeling that Rodgers doesn’t fancy him.

As for Villa, my impression of them is their biggest challenge this season has been balancing out attack and defence - they’ve struggled to do both well at once. They’re also apparently stronger in the first half than the second, opposite to us. So I think the important thing is to make sure they don’t get a run on us in the first half. Going in level would probably be a positive for us.

Does Brian Little still live in Barrow?

Yeah we did but Adams was manager then, that was our last season in the PL before our journey our trajectory took a massive slump.

I do remember us beating them 5-0 in 1984 though, it's one of the first games I actually remember.

Think today will either be
1-1 or 2-4

Yes, that was it. It was early on in the season. We did score a bag full of goals that season but conceded 2 bags full
