I genuinely believe that anyone giving a reason against voting Labour due to "me me me" are not understanding the point. Aren't voters meant to vote for the good of the country and all of its people, not just themselves. I find it hard to read when people constantly talk about how hard it will be for them (when they are on money that puts them in the top 5-10%) saying how it isn't fair.

I used to vote tories until I devoted quote alot of time looking into this sort of thing. Now I can't se eme ever voting for them again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, and there is also a middle ground where you don't have to be one extreme or the other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But I read your posts and you seem to be one of the extremes. All I have seen you say is how you have worked hard and how it will impact you. What exactly is the impact it will have on you? Can you balance the £30 loss per month with what it will do for people less fortunate than you?

This is the side of socialism which loses Labour votes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What? People too stingy to pay a few more quid in tax?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

People like yourself demanding others pay more because they've managed to be relatively successful by working and studying harder than the rest.

Personally speaking, i would be someone who started off with nothing in a working class family that struggled and dedicated a lot of my life to getting to where i am.

Why should i then be helping someone who was in the same position as me but didn't have the work ethic and motivation to do the same? I will choose where my charity donations and fund raising goes rather than the government.

I am telling you the Labour loses voters like myself for these reasons. People on £50-80k are not millionaires. These sort of policies deter those individuals who have made something for themselves rather than inherited it all.

You just don't get it do you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hugo this echoes the point I made earlier about the squeezed middle class over here mate.

Like I said I pay the same rate of income tax as Bono
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Quite like U2 but Bono is an utter caaant

Bangs on about the planet and poverty while he’s flying all over the world in his private jet.

I’ve even been priced out of seeing U2 because their ticket prices are astronomical. He could do something about that with the influence he has, but he never would. He cares nothing for the working class.

Horrible man
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He talks ballacks Palmers but I was just making the point that with the tax system in this country once your earnings go above 40k per year you pay the same rate as the super rich earners.

Its a disgrace
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know mate I was just going off on a tangent

----------------------------------------------------------------------

My first comment was that I'm voting Labour... so what extreme position am I taking here?

However, i'm giving reasons why i disagree with the rise and the targeting of that salary band which leads to votes being lost.

People donating to charity to ease their conscience, without questioning WHY that charity even has to exist.

I donated to Help for Hero’s the other day, as obviously it’s MY responsibility and not the Governments to ensure our ex servicemen are not on the streets.

Jesus wept.

Fair enough. Not here to argue at all but my overwhelming stance on voting should be to do what is best morally. I think alot do what is best for them or what the mefia tell them to. I'm not even sure the average voter should be allowed to vote without proving they have some sort of understanding of what they are voting for. I honestly believe people stick to parties no matter what and will never change, I'd even go as far as it say most don't really know what they are boring for.
