Thoughts from last night

I didn’t think that the performance was as bad as made out.

The intentions with the attacking incisive passes were good and very nearly laid off a lot of times.

Felt our passing in the middle was a little misplaced at times but overall I thought we were ok.

Individually White as usual was superb, Berardi also great against some handfuls of attackers, Ayling back at or near his best, Costa getting more and more involved, it shows how well others are doing when it’s not all about Hernandez.

Alioski looked a bit flaky when defending but what a well taken goal, that was a difficult chance but his contribution in terms of goals is essential, and going forwards he always looked a threat yesterday.

One thing that does disappoint is crossing though, it’s really woeful at times and same way we’ve looked at changing up corners we need to look at that.

Kiko has really improved this season and whilst he dyes still have a propensity to flap, I now feel much more comfortable with him at the back and of course he made a couple of great stops yesterday.

Bamford.

Thought he was excellent yesterday. The amount of tracking back and working for the team was immense, if he could shift that slightly to deliver more goals he’d be superb, but for our system right now he’s spot on.

Both goals came from quick counter attacks. Too often our build ups involve lots of passing but are far too slow allowing opposition to get back en masse, when we break at speed our fitness and control come to the fire and I really feel this type of attack can make or break our season.

Excellent result, excellent run of form, and some great thoughts from Berardi, for whom I’m really pleased is having a good season after end of last season:

The Baggies certainly are riding their luck, won last week with a penalty that never was.

Evidently he was carp tonight and was subbed just after scoring. He wasn’t happy either,

How Wigan didn’t win that I’ll never know. They pummelled WBA.

They had so many clear chances to add to their goals tally.

The equalising goal was the result of their goalie having a drink from his bottle in the nets and not realising he couldn't pick the ball up from a backpass cos he wasn't paying attention!

Talk about bizarre luck!

Interesting that I’ve just read that Bilic says he rested players because some said they were tired. Imagine that under Bielsa!
