Football is a results business

After getting comprehensively outplayed today, Spurs get the three points. This sort of victory would have been unthinkable just a couple of months back. Spurs would have been looking at a 3 or 4 nil loss, but now they have a winner as a manager, may also be a lucky manager, but nonetheless, he knows how to grind out victories, that`s four in five games now, when for months Spurs could barely win a game.

We know there are problems in the team, and ironically it was Verts who came up with the winner, after having a torrid afternoon.

Anyway, I will take the three points, and move on to Chelsea next week in upbeat mood. Good weekend all round really, Leicester, Chelsea, United and Wolves all dropped points playing at home, Spurs picked up the maximum playing away.

Unbelievably a win next weekend, would put Spurs in the top four. That would be way ahead of what I thought it would be when Mourinho took over, was not expecting to be back in top four until March at the earliest, such was the task in front of him.

COYS.

Jose has not changed anything but he has got lucky.

Not saying he wont do better than Poch but as it stands the only difference between now and then is that firstly we are getting the normal bounce back from a managerial change and we have also had a bit of luck.

Nobody can dispute Jose's knowledge or ability but as he has openly said with the run of games in December he has not had any time to change anything yet.

He clearly states that until January when he gets a full week with the players then it will be as it is for the time being.

I agree with Grand. Totally correct comment.

But I will also say that Mourinho is choosing to start some players that Pochettino would not, like Lucas Moura, and that IS making a difference.

And also, he learns very quicky ... Foyth's disaster midweek In Munich meant Aurier is our starting LB. Lesson here is that Levy is going to have to back Mourinho in january. He will want some new additions and they will not be Levy Cheapos.

Hardly call beating Burnley lucky last week, nor Bournemouth or West Ham previously.

I meant today he got lucky as you well know. We are still playing the same system and players as we did under poch, barring injuries of course.

Yes players are working harder as they always do when a new manager arrives but tactically we are unchanged.

Not knocking Jose at all as I have said time and time again his history speaks for itself but he has not waved a magic wand or performed any magic at all.

He might eventually but not so far.

OK fair enough.

Why sadly Sandy?

He has consistently been abusive and vile towards people, I think even you had an issue with him recently

His articles normally consist of one or two lines or a link to some site. Hardly great interaction is it?

By the way I think you might well be correct about the team’s mindset, it does seem that we are more determined. Whether that is “new manager” bounce or something else I am not sure.

However, I do think we are getting slightly more direct under Mourinho, with less passing across and backwards

direct is good at times especially with how we overplayed before. we were playing slow passing football round the back before with players who aint comfortable or good on the ball. we needed to address this with new personnel

Good riddance to the caaant.
