DPL v Accrington Stanley

Sorry about the delay in putting this up and the brevity of the post, but life has been very hectic recently.

I saw the Wycombe game where the penalty, carelessly donated, was our downfall and the Gillingham game too where the performance was made worse by a lack of effort from some players. Neither DM's signings nor his team selection have been satisfactory recently; rarely have I felt as let down by a performance as bad as the one at GIllingham, even though we were up against a team in form.

At Wimbledon and then versus MKD they dragged us down even further and again the players seem to have lacked the will to win.

The prospects today are not good given Accrington's recent form and despite their being poor away from home I predict a 0-2 defeat.

Daniels, Thomas, Bingham and Gomez would not be in my team and if they play today they will have to do a good deal better than they seem capable of if we are to get anything at all out of this one.

Well, no Whiteman means a slight rethink! I was going to go with a good win, but will settle for Rovers 2 Accrington 1 with Taylor scoring the first. I had hoped Ennis would start, not Thomas.

To a neutral, I'm sure it would seem that a draw was a fair result for what looked like two mediocre League 2 teams - at least in the first half.
Last week at least we created chances.
To be fair, the defence played quite well except for a below par performance from Reece James. We do have three fit, good, centre backs - no need for the Penalty Man (except for injury cover?).
Gomes is a frustrating player - some excellent play and tenacity that led to the goal, but at other times he is slow to react and sometimes does not try to reach a slightly wayward pass when he appears to have time.
Sadlier is really off the boil at the moment - earlier in the season he was good.
The whole team seems slow to react in situations such as their scrambled goal - which looked offside to me.

Thanks Micky. When a team has shown itself capable of looking amongst the best in the league and then declines and continues to do so, it is difficult to react positively. "Working us out" may be convenient explanation and my own feeling that there is a lack of endeavour are both simple reasons and the introduction of new faces provide us with further scapegoats.

I would not like to be in the manager's shoes and perhaps this is the time when various members of those employed to analyse the performances come into their own.

The pressure is on and we must hope for improvement over Christmas and come what may, January will offer the opportunity for a fruitful recruitment drive.

Peterborough, Sunderland twice, Coventry, Bristol Rovers, Oxford, Shrewsbury, then Southend. Can anyone see a victory there, because the way we're playing I can see a couple of hammerings being given out.
Quite a few fans leaving the ground were pointing the finger at Moore yesterday, especially questioning his tactics and substitutions. Big, big couple of weeks ahead, both on and off the pitch.
Will the board back Moore, or will they just bring players in after having several players lined up but Moore said no, he'd bring in better players. That's worked out well, not.
