Philip Cocu - Should I stay or should I go?

It's almost Christmas, it's a working day but my motivation levels have been at an all time low so I thought I'd type an article, even if it's just to release some football frustrations.

A lot of you have been vocal on your thoughts regarding Cocu but just to get a general idea how many of you would like to see him be given January to get players of his suitability be brought in and be given a chance to implement his actual style of play?

Or is it too late and someone else should come in? If that is the case, please suggest an alternative and why you think this manager would prosper where PC has failed.

I couldn't sleep last night so spent the time online, had a look at this site :

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/phillip-cocu/eingesetzteSpieler/trainer/6405

It provides a breakdown of all the players PC has managed from his time at PSV, Fenerbahce and Derby. My thoughts are that had FL left earlier and PC been appointed sooner we may have been successful in signing some of the players that left PSV on a free and signed for lower Dutch sides or moved over to Belgium.

We were linked with Bart Ramslear who went on to FC Utrecht, there was a few more that he may have considered - Zakaria Bakkali (left Valencia for Anderlecht, had played for Cocu at PSV), Adam Maher (highly regarded by Forest favourite Pierre Van H. was linked to Celtic but signed for FC Utrecht during the summer). Of course it's hypothetical but we'd obviously have an opportunity to get these players in instead of Dowell, Paterson etc... who have been a disappointment. There were a few more players of quality that left that 'could' potentially have been a target for us.

Point being made is that the 'Sarri effect' resulted in Derby being left in limbo (let's take some comfort in Juve being beat by Lazio in the Suppercoppa), had we resolved the managerial issue we'd certainly be in a better position with the playing staff.

Of the players that Cocu has managed I honestly believe he'll want to attempt to get Van Ginkel in the squad come Jan, was in his PSV side on loan for 1.5 seasons and made captain. Can't see him breaking into Chelsea's squad and as their transfer embargo has been lifted there's an opportunity there. ( He's also out of contract end of the season)

The other players that 'could' possibly be of consideration to PC are
Jetro Willems (LB, contract due to expire end of season, curerntly on loan at Newcastle with an option to buy)

Jeffrey Bruma - (CB, not playing for parent club, on loan to Schalke and has played a few games, but IF we were to get Van Ginkel there might be an opportunity given his links to Chelsea.)

Mauro Junior - young Brazilian, highly talented currently on loan to Heracles Almelo where he's scored six goals in the top division. Possibly an option for next season. (It's wishful thinking really!)

Ferdi Kadioglu - there was an article about this player on DET that we may be interested in this right sided footballer who moved from Holland to Turkey and is now getting game time so unlikely to move over. Possibly a move in the summer?

I had a thought that if Cocu signed a Croatian player and Costa Rican player in Jan some of the fans might ease up and give him a little more time....

I see there's an article in the DET that we're linked to a Croatian defender on loan from Leicester.

Are you serious? Could maybe divert if it’s not too far off route.

No mate, just pulling you leg, but thanks for the kind offer.

I still might go though.

Well I’m spared the problem of having to crowbar my lads out of their pits a bit earlier than expected. Who’s going to mind my car while I’m at the match now though?

I doubt anyone from Wigan will want a slightly secondhand Bentley.
