Ox out until the New Year

So it's now been confirmed that Ox will be out with ligament damage until the New Year with no date for a return as yet.

Feel sorry for the lad as he was just coming back from a long term injury and this is another set back for him At least this won't be too long but I suspect it won't be until February that we see him again.

Anyways merry Xmas to all my fellow red fans and I hope you all enjoy your day!

Don’t think there’s chance of Ox leaving this summer, we will have other things to think about.

I’m look at a few of our key players ages next year. Henderson will be turning 30, Wijnaldum turning 30, Lovren 31, Matip 29, Firmino 29.

Obviously those guys you’d hope will still have a good 2-3 years in them but Klopp needs to think about bringing in their long term successors, starting this summer I’d say.

Ideally they would be young talents that can settle in initially, learn under the senior players and Klopp before hitting their peak under the next managers reign.

Yeah Lovren and Lallana look most likely to leave.

Lallana has already been replaced really, although there is still space in the squad I think. We're right on the edge for foreigners.

With Lovren I guess it depends on what Klopp wants to do with Hoever.

Played 42 games in his first season. On over 20 this season and just signed a new contract. He's going nowhere.

He doesn't have to be going anywhere, does he?

Also, did he make 42 apps and over 20/this season or did he actually play 42 games?

He actually played in 42 games.

What do you mean "He doesn't have to be going anywhere, does he?"

We have ox, naby, lallana, lovren, matip, (clyne is he still with us?)and potentially Gomez who are regularly injured.

I personally feel some of these may need to be moved on due to the number of games they are actually available for. Maybe lallana and lovren will.be gone this summer. I say thise 2 because of their age. I like lovren but we need someone who will play a run of games when they step in.

Agreed.

I worry that Ox will be like Sturridge. Fit enough when its contract time and smashing them in and then out for ages after that.

If Ox and Lallana had been fit last season we could have won the league perhaps. Those tired draws in Jan and Feb (If memory serves) is where we lost it.

That's a very good point and you have to wonder whether that will be an internal promotion or whether we are dipping our toes in the tranny market.

Out of that list I'd like to see Jones come in for one them, I think he can make the step up and I am still hoping that Brewster can make the step up as well. It will be interesting what business we end up doing this summer. I suspect we will not sign another in January beyond Minamino.

He doesn't have to be going anywhere for someone to opine that the club should consider offers is they come along.

42 games is impressive tbh, but he was out for nearly all of the next season.

Overall his injury record is not sustainable IMO (same goes for Keita). Hopefully that will change when he comes back from this one.

As far as I know Wijnaldum could be back on Thursday.
Matip & Fabinho back early/mid January.
Lovren & Oxlade unknown.

Also, TAA is one booking away from being suspended.

Yellow card amnesty is after the Boxing Day games so if he can avoid a booking against Leicester he’s fine.
