Mikey Johnson - 5 year deal

http://www.celticfc.net/news/17346

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Mikey Johnston has signed a new five-year deal that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2025.

Mikey is another successful graduate of the Celtic Youth Academy, having come through the ranks at the club, and he has made 45 first-team appearances to date, scoring 11 goals.

Now 20-years-old, he made his debut on May 6, 2017, playing for nearly an hour in a 4-1 home win over St Johnstone, while his first goal came just over a year ago, when he netted in a 3-0 win at Celtic Park over Motherwell on December 19. He followed that up with two goals in Celtic’s next game – a 3-0 home win over Dundee.

And on the final day of last season, he scored both goals in a 2-1 home win against Hearts on the day when the team lifted the Premiership trophy in recognition of their eighth league title in a row.

This season, he has scored six goals for Celtic, including the first competitive goal of the campaign in a 3-1 away win over FK Sarajevo, while he also netted the team’s first goal of the current Premiership season, opening the scoring against St Johnstone in a 7-0 Flag Day win at Paradise.

Having returned to the first-team squad following an injury lay-off, Mikey has made a great impact in recent months, scoring in the 3-1 Europa League win over Rennes and following that up with a strike against Ross County in Dingwall to give Neil Lennon’s side a 4-1 victory.

Superb piece of business, will be a mainstay of the team until we can't afford to keep him.

Great news , regarding Mickey ..he's a cracking player already and will only get better
Very entertaining .

He does need to bulk up to become more complete , and they will bulk him up much in the same way they did with Christie , mcgeady etc
It takes time , it's not just a case of doing weights ...
Christie put on 2.5k when he came back from Aberdeen it's helped him immensely.

CT, agree with Christie, he has put a few pounds on, obvs muscle but its improved him, also he runs all game, never stops, an injury here and there and he might not even have got a chance?

Wish they'd just leave him centrally though ffs?

Piff, Christie is superb through the middle, just a shame that both he and Ntcham are being squeezed into the same team.

We seem to be proactive heading into this winter window.

Zico, agree mate I like them both but Ntcham should be rotated with Brown and Mcgregor imo, Christie works harder pressing from the front and has an eye for a goal, Ntcham is a player who can pick a pass so could play in the CM two

I reckon Ntcham is more a straight swap for McGregor, but you can't keep the weeman out of the team.

This is the problem with Ntcham, he has so much talent but for me he's not as complete a footballer as the likes of Christie or McGregor, both have better workrate, are better defensively and are better dribblers too, and they are both also very good at Ntcham's best qualities too.

For me when everyone is fit and it's a big game he should be on the bench, overall he would still make a huge contribution and should get plenty of game time so that everyone can get a rest, he's still a young guy but when I look at the effort guys like Christie and McGregor put in Ntcham still has work to do to match them over the course of a season.

Crazy how far Rogic has fell out of favour, insane talent but just doesn't seem to have the same drive as some less gifted players.

ntcham is, imo, the most technically gifted footballer at our club.

but the others work so well together as a unit, he's the one to drop out imo
