Bamford injured so a timely chance for Eddie.
We started brightly, moving the ball more quickly and precisely than Preston game, Eddie with some good touches, Costa using some pace and Harrison coming to life after a slow start.
Great quick breakaway goal to get started, followed by another deflected shot to give us a cushion that I think we all thought we'd kick on from.
But, Birmingham were harrying us and really exploiting Alioski's defensive failings on the left and got back into the game and we're starting to see Kiko flap at crosses.
With no real options onto bench we had to soldier on as Birmingham brought on fresh legs and we looked shakier and shakier at set pieces with Kiko a complete liability, you know what, I wonder if we'll really miss him if he's banned, that's 10 goals conceded in 4 matches now....
Eddie faded from the game, perhaps a lack of experience, but also we didnt give him much service at all.
Struggling to hold on we bring on Berardi and Roberts to replace Eddie, could not predict which way it would go but we won it at the end.
Great game of football, could not have argued if it had been a draw at the end but feel this will massively boost morale along with Preston game, the players know they can keep going and overcome adversity AND do it without their leading scorer.
I hope that Eddie wants to be part of this.
I hope that Roberts came through unscathed and that no other injuries (Costa looked in trouble earlier).
I thought the ref was excellent in letting the game flow and getting most everything right and credit to both teams for just non stop attacking.
Other results pretty much went our way and now am relishing the chance to face WBA whilst they're on the ropes to some degree.

Elsbels makes a spurious and ambiguous statement
Imo on a player making his first start, a player I
thought played well on the day and certainly takes
no blame for the 4 goals conceded.
This is what he partly writes: "you'd have to be a fool
to not notice the correlation between Eddie's
appearances and slumps in performance on the field.
We're a much better side with Bamford leading the
line and I doubt we'd have conceded four goals with
him on the pitch."
Well this fool has a better spurious and ambiguous
statement to make, here's my offering:
Bamford didn't play against Birmingham and we
scored 5 (1og)
Had Bamford played we wouldn't have scored and he
would have missed 4.

Can we go back to 1-0 wins please, can't be doing with this. Luckily missed the whole game as I was on a flight. Will watch the extended highlights in a bit and have a look at some shocking defending.

Yes - someone who can finish chances and also work hard (maybe his downfall).

Bamford has more than earned his place in the team. Nketiah shows plenty of potential in a side not set up to make the most of his style of play.
I'd like to see both play up front but there's more chance of Bielsa conducting an interview in English than there is in him changing his tactics.
