Boateng

Yay or Nay.
Will take him for the reported £12.8 million; subject to reasonable wage demand and a maximum two year deal of course.
Would also give Arteta the option of deploying the improving Luiz as a DM in some games

With Chambers' injury, I can understand that we need cover and reinforcements. But firstly, we should use Holding more. Secondly, as Arteta himself has said, we should first get the best out of our current players before considering any additions. The last two matches have shown our players have been playing well below their potential. And that Boateng horror show against Messi doesn't inspire confidence.

Bayern tried for a long time to get rid of Boateng now. He only playing right now because Süle is out of the season. Boateng is 31 years old now and way passed it. Slow, out of depths and always injured.

tbf. most defenders have horror shows against Messi.

I don't think the Boateng link if true, is going to be anything more than a backup in case of emergencies because Mustafi's confidence is shot!

Boateng is a glass-ankled 31 year old who has barely averaged 20 games a season over the past decade.

Pass.

He is unhappy about his playing time at Bayern, so if he comes he will expect to play more. Instead of ballooning our wage bill, I would rather use Holding more. Tierney is due back in March and can play as LB or CB. In other words, if the worse comes to the worst, we have other viable options without adding to our wage bill. But hey, if Arteta thinks he has a way to make full and productive use of Boateng, who are we to say no? Despite my views, I trust the coach's judgment.

No thanks, Boateng has lost it. Injuries and age have made him slow as sh*t. Look at his sending off against Eintracht earlier this season - if one of our current defenders did that we'd slate them for the rest of the season.

Should have got Johnny Evans when he was for sale for £8m a few years back. But he wasn't exotic enough for GT and the hipster goobers 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I advocated we buy Evans as well. Solid, reliable defender and decent enough on the ball. But our Gooner fans are some of the biggest snobs on the planet. If a player doesn't have some Latin name and play with the elegance of Iniesta or Zidane, they don't want him.

Reminds me too of when I was laughed off to wanting Mane when he was at Southampton and some fans here compared him to Gervinho.
