This guys been out of action for a while, but should be returning to the squad vs Leeds. He’s been good in one or two games but been quite underwhelming, mainly failing to assert himself in the games despite his tenacious and technical play style.
He’s the type of player who under Arteta’s style would flourish imo. Maybe the second half of the season, him and Ozil can be our creative players to make the difference, the difference we so often need. Also with Ozil’s new found tracking back alongside Ceballos natural tendency to get stuck in, we may have found a good balance for defending from the front.

Send him back and put an end to this habit of loaning players.
I don't care if he's the second coming of Iniesta. He serves no long-term strategic value, and all he'll do is stand in the way of players like Willock and ESR.
If we're going to be in the business of improving players for other teams, we might as well get paid for it.

Would send him back right now personally

I definitely like the little I have seen of Ceballos but I don't see him getting into the team as long as Ozil puts in performances like the last game. I agree that Ceballos is likely to thrive in the Arteta setup. I am keen to see him play with the team. If we can get him playing and happy, with a view to a permanent move in the summer or next Jan, then a young, very talented and HUNGRY Ceballos, is a far more sensible route for the club to take for the future.
We would be insane to build anything long term around Ozil. Even if Arteta can miraculously get Ozil back to his best. The smartest move for us now is to use Ozil's pre talks shift as nothing more than advertising to flog his ass in the summer. The little time we have until his contract is up, should be focused on finding and settling a young talented, HUNGRY player (like a Ceballos or Willock) into the team. Build the immediate needs team around Ozil by all means but come August, we need his long term replacement at AFC.
The club MUST NOT get suckered by Ozil again. Dangle a fat new contract in front of him, use up whatever good games he has in him, whilst he's trying to merc us for another 30-40 mil wages. Sort his replacement, then rip up the dangle contract and tell Ozil to feck off. He is set to use his fanboys to whip up a frenzy just before/ during contract talks, to get Arteta pressured into giving him another whale contract. JUST LIKE HE DID TO WENGER with the last one. Ceballos is better than Willock so I say go with him if we can't make him permanent in the summer (assuming he gets games and does well of course).

So what Lex, you telling me that you want to see Ozil signed up again for another 2/3 years extra, with the club risking him returning to the last 4 years of crap form, soon as the contract is signed? We shouldn't even have offered him that contract. And you want us to give him another after we got burned proper once already? You wanna be shaking ya head at your "slap me again, I'll just beg for more" self mate.
It's one thing to get whatever we can out of him whilst he feels like playing well. Something totally different to look to the future building a team around him and resigning his ass at 350k. Can't see why any Arsenal fan would be willing or want to see him given another chance stiff the club out of millions. Don't you think Ozil's had enough money for nothing from us already?

Ozil extending won't be on the cards for at least another year, for now he just needs to be playing well. He'll be 32 by the end of his contract so I'd expect him to leave on a free unless he's back on top form and willing to take a big pay cut.

If his contract is up 20/21 then it's in the next few months he will be trying to hold the club to ransom, threatening to walk on a Bosman next year. Needs discussing now and him point blank told " Ya can feck off, we won't be extending. We suggest you play ya socks of for the rest of the time to get us and/or you a good deal.
Ie DO NOT EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA of giving him the opportunity to mug the club off for any more money than he already has done. We sign him again and we're only throwing good money after bad. NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES between now and his contract ending.
This is not a player whom can play their way back to good grace with Arsenal fans or at least it shouldn't be. He could win us a treble by himself before that contract ends and he'd STILL only have done what we already paid him for, years late. People need to stop talking like Ozil doesn't OWE US some 70 to 80 performances like the Man U game. And stop being grateful for him throwing you a few scraps of effort after 4 years of nothing. NO RE-SIGN, unless we wanna be the biggest suckers in football. AGAIN!

Applauded off in his last two performances. You're clutching at straws now.

I notice you left of the end of the quote. I applauded his performance myself Lex. Doesn't mean for one minute I want the club giving him any more money. I'll cheer for him every second he plays well (took long enough bloody coming) but the biggest cheer of all will come the day he leaves AFC.
It's some serious "Battered Fan Syndrome" thing you got going on for Ozil ya know. All the Ozil fanboys have. He's just abused the club for 4 years straight but you don't want us to leave him. No you wanna stay with him for a few more years. Is 4 years of beatings not enough for you? Arsenal FC needs to LEAVE HIM Lex, because he's an abusive Plenty of good, decent minded CAMs out there who won't treat her like that.
The mind boggles at how ANYONE who claims to love this club can be so happy/seem so desperate to watch a player abuse the shirt and badge as badly as Ozil has. NO PLAYER in club history, has fecked over AFC for so much, for so long.

If it means seeing you going into meltdown here about him every other day for the next four years, I’ll start a crowdfunding page in the morning.

I'll go you one better mate. If they sign him up again I'll quit supporting the club until he is gone. Not prepared to watch the exact same cycle of events unfold under Arteta as we have seen over the last few years IMO because of Ozil more than anyone else. He handicapped AW, he handicapped Emery and as soon as he's secured more cash, he WILL handicap Arteta too. 5 years of watching hard working players slated by so called Arsenal fans, whilst they suck off Ozil for his LOUSY contribution. Is more than enough for me.
This situation very much reminds me of RVP. At the time I remember arguing with many on here that we should get rid whilst we could. All said no, bigging up RVP for his half season contributions, whilst slating Ramsey and Walcott for the same, half season injured RVP spent every year. No, no, no, you all said. RVP is all that and blah blah. All backed him to the hilt and what happened? fecked off to Utd, taking a cheap shot at AW and the club who'd paid for his millions in med treatment and the same fans who'd been singing his praises and kissing his ass to me days before. It's a different type of betrayal by/from Ozil. But it's none the less transparent to me than the RVP situation was then. You can blatantly see the and his play coming. "Play good until I get a new contract sorted, then feck em. Worked last time, the mug fans will fall for it again." Plain as day to see Lex, just gotta be willing to see it.
Fans constantly criticised Wenger for repeatedly backing/having faith in the wrong player/s. Yet here they are, after having seen Ozil feck over AW and Emery. Actually suggesting/supporting backing Ozil again. Fan base at this club is guilty of the exact same thing they spent oh so many years berating Wenger for. And only fuelling the chances of Arteta ultimately failing also BECAUSE OF OZIL! Same way his predecessors did, in the process. No wish to watch as those same fans turn on Arteta too. Was bad enough when they turned on Emery after he done what THEY'D demanded 8-10 games previously. Mikel doesn't deserve the same sh!t and I ain't watching it done to him.
