January 2020 Transfer Window

Who are we going to get in then? Lamouchi said 1 or 2, but I think that’s a smokescreen. With Bostock, Mir and Muric seemingly off, it leaves us lighter than we are already, even if they haven’t contributed. I think their omission cements it.

First up we need a striker. Maybe two.

If Mighten can do that against Chelsea, then I’m sure he could cut it in the Championship. He certainly stood up and battled against some very physical opponents. Makes you wonder if Walker stays at Lincoln, meaning we would still need an additional striker.

So far we’ve been linked with about 10-15 players, but I think players like Adams and Gayle aren"t going to happen. I could see someone like Jutkiewicz or Taylor coming in for a spot. Murray could be a good shout on loan, although Nketiah seems more likely. Nketiah has mainly been used in the last twenty. 3 goals and an assist in 450 minutes is decent.

On the wings we could free up Cash from RB, but he combines well with Lolley. The problem is that Adamoah is a poor replacement on his showing so far. Outside of that we’re looking at Mighten again, or Silva.

Bowen is an unlikely addition, however much I’d love that to happen. I think we need a left and right winger, or at least someone who can play either wing. Clarke and Grosicki have been mentioned, I’d love to see Gradel from Toulouse. They are bottom, but he’s their captain. He’s not been mentioned, but at 32 he’s still performing.

That’s fwo as a minimum, although you could easily argue for four. Problem being that four is a massive disruption.

You could also state a case for a backup goalie, a left-back, a back-up Sow, a back-up Watson and a performing Carvalho. Ok, so nine then 🤣

I think we’ll see 3 loan signings and two permanent transfers in.

I’m going for Clarke, Nketiah and a midfielder on loan.

Jutkiewicz or Taylor as the striker and a winger, from somewhere.

Nketieh’s next club expected to be known today. (Brizzle favourites).

Could be a few out before any coming in. Hef, Benalouane, Bostock, Muric, Mir, Clough, Yacob could all be on their way.

Some good names been mentioned as targets. Clarke, Jota, Taylor coming in would make me happy. Gayle, Grosicki, Vydra are financially unrealistic. Most likely though are foreign based signings.

Hopefully we are a bit stronger by the end of the month.

Whatever we do, let’s do it soon. During recent windows We have left it too late and ended up with second rate over priced substitutes. Width is essential while a back up striker is desirable. I still believe it’s more important to get some out, rather than in, but that won’t be easy.

It’s probably totally unrealistic, but I would go all out to get a top quality striker even if it were for a 6 months loan deal - I would put all our eggs into 1 basket to get Dwight Gayle if he were ailing and committed to getting us promoted - the risk is worth taking and it it pays off, we’ll get 10 fold back in Premiership payments

As I say it’s totally unrealistic- but we have depth and backup in all other areas except up front

Break the bank and get Dwight Gayle

I think Bruce said that Gayle will only go for a permanent fee? It was in the Post 🤣

The Barnsley lad Mowatt is it. I think the club want him. I think Lamouchi has said if we’re spending x amount let’s get in quality. Hence the forward and winger.

Amazing that we’re 4th and we’ve not hit top
form yet. Reading Away, Luton Home, Reading Home. As we do well Away, I can see us beating Reading. We’ve beat Luton already and they are probably the weakest side other than Charlton (injury plagued). Playing Reading at Home so close after that, well, hopefully we’ve figured them out by then.

52 points with three more wins on the bounce, leaving 18 games and us at the most, 6 points behind the automatics. That’s what we need next, a team players want to join.

Bruce will not loan Gayle to us, unless he's crocked, so look else where.

He has a track record of ripping us off and I'm sure that John McGovern has told the new board exactly that.

Can see us playing the patient game.

We haven’t got people lining up for our deadwood so if anything happens it’ll be last minute.

Carvalho will probably be sold last thing, if sold at all otherwise anyone we bring in will have some added change on top of the usual fee.

We’ve shopping in a very niche striker market, and it could make or break our chances. Can’t see us rushing in for anyone just because they’re available. Maybe some early continental picks.

Taylor has turned down his new contract at Charlton and is out of contract in the summer. 3m should be enough to get him in.

We could even recall Walker and send him there on loan as part of the deal? No better way to see if he cuts it in the Championship.

Nketiah is in talks with us apparently. Taylor and him would be superb additions. If only eh!

Not much news on the winger front. I think that and the CM could be a couple of surprising additions.
