January transfer window

In the absence of Perton and with the club now deciding who to bring in and who to release, I think it's time for a good debate.

Personally, as much as I'd like the idea of bringing in BETTER players than what we have, I fear it ain't gonna happen.

There are quite a few on here that think we're going to splash the cash and bring in more players to increase the size of our senior squad. That sounds great on paper, but I think the reality is, we're probably going to release two of the players we got in the summer, therefore we'll be looking to bring in two more. None of which will increase the size of our squad.

If we're not going to get BETTER players, then I feel the way to go would be to get in players on loan, as January is not the best time to get decent players and certainly none that would displace our current squad.

Despite what Nuno has been saying recently, he still wants to work with a small senior squad. If he increases it like some on here believe he should do, then we're back to square one and will be repeating the mistakes we made last summer when we brought several players in. Players not getting game time will be wishing to leave, primarily because they weren't good enough to oust anyone.

So, let's the some thoughts.

What's your point cinci? I'm sure we were trying to sign maybe one more player. But let's not forget that we lost two and gained one. A few on here were expecting 4 or more new signings which were never going to happen in this window.

NOBODY was expecting 4 or more new signings in January, many were saying we needed more signings though, big difference.

Nuno has said quite openly we needed to add players also, the fact we didn't doesn't mean he or the club got what they wanted, it is clear to everybody we are still light on players.

Reality is we are 2 or 3 injuries away from our season disintegrating. Big gamble to take in my opinion.

Pretty reckless decision for a club that apparently isn't financially restricted.

There is no question we intended to get more players in last summer, and in January, than we were successful in getting. Our small squad is certainly more by accident than design.

Always been question marks about Thelwell and if he is the main man for getting signatures on the line then you must question if he is the right man for the job, particularly now we are shopping in the same market as the big boys

There was me questioning Thelwell, now I find he is leaving us to join the New York Red Bulls

For the time being Jeff Shi is going to continue to be chairman, and do the job that used to be done by Laurie Dalrymple, and also now Thelwell’s role. Which frankly is stupid especially considering his lack of experience and knowledge about football. Hopefully they will bring in some quality back room staff in by the summer. And don’t bring Moxey back!

tim spiers reports that marshall and thelwell recomended that wolves move for danny olmo and hwang hee-chan - however nuno opted for campana and podence.
big surprise there - nuno's choice and the leak from inside wolves which is normally as tight as fort knox.
feel sure it can't have anything to do with thelwell leaving

Delighted to read that the summer transfer window is being brought back into line with the rest of Europe. Never made sense to have two separate timescales events though I could see the logic of making it before the season started.

So we left the European system and rejoined it. Maybe brexit isn’t forever after all
