Media Watch: City ace eyes another Henry record

Fresh from Sergio Aguero’s twin Premier League landmark, Tuesday’s Media Watch carries news of another potential league record for a fellow City ace.
Not surprisingly, there’s yet more praise for Aguero in the wake of our all-time record goalscorer’s latest Premier League exploits.
Gabriel Jesus, meanwhile, talks of his own desire to both learn from and seek to follow in the illustrious footsteps of the great man.
And, despite Pep Guardiola’s repeated assertion we won’t be doing business any time soon, the press have thrown up another reputed transfer target..

Charlotte Duncker: “Thierry Henry had one record taken from him by a Manchester City player on Sunday and another is in jeopardy after another perfect performance from Kevin de Bruyne.

“Sergio Aguero's hat-trick against Aston Villa in the 6-1 win at Villa Park took his tally to 177 goals in 255 matches ensuring he overtook the former Arsenal targetman as the Premier League’s leading overseas scorer.
“The Argentine's three goals also meant he broke the record for the most hat-tricks in the Premier League with his tally now standing at 12, seeing him move past Alan Shearer.
“And he's not the only City player who looks like they're set for a place in the history books this season.
“De Bruyne picked up two assists in City's demolition of Villa on Sunday the first a routine set up for Sergio Aguero's first of the game in the 28th minute and then a sublime ball for Gabriel Jesus's goal just before the break.
“The Belgian international sent a pinpoint ball to the Brazilian for City's fourth and to take his tally of assists in the league to 14 for the season. De Bruyne now finds himself six behind Henry's record of 20 which he set in the 2002/03 season.

“City have 16 league games left for De Bruyne to beat the record which has stood for 17 years and he is currently averaging .64 assists per league match. If he carries on at his current pace he should smash the current record and pick up 24 assists by the end of the season."

“The Brazilian international said: “He is a great guy and a legend of course. I'm in the same position so I have to learn.
“Of course I think our football is different - he is more of a striker, more of a finisher. We work together, every single day. I can learn from him. So that's what I have to do.
“He's a legend of the Premier League, a legend of the club - when he goes to the pitch he scores always.

“I go to the pitch to enjoy my football. If I have the opportunity to break [the record] of course I want to. But I want to go to the pitch to enjoy football and to score goals."

“Owen Hargreaves has seen the skills of Sergio Aguero up close and says the Manchester City striker’s touch and movement are the secret to breaking two Premier League records on Sunday.
“Aguero scored three times in City’s 6-1 win at Aston Villa and in so doing became the leading overseas goalscorer in Premier League history, his 177 goals overtaking the 175 of Thierry Henry.
“His hat-trick was also his 12th in the competition, surpassing the 11 of Alan Shearer.
“Hargreaves, a former team-mate of Aguero at City, says Aguero’s third goal at Villa Park epitomised how difficult he is for defenders to stop.
“The one thing you used to realise about Sergio is when you got the ball in to him, in and around the box, the way he just shifted the ball with his low centre of gravity, you couldn't get anywhere near him," Hargreaves said.

“By the time he got it out of his feet and shot, the ball was already in the net.
“Defenders hadn't even really adjusted to the first move, that's how sharp he was.
“And we saw that, I think, on the last goal. It just happened so quickly, and he gets it out of his feet, and he shimmies and he shoots almost all at the same time."
