Overseas match package

I met up with a relative from South Africa last night who is with a group who travelled from Durban just to watch the Liverpool v Man Utd match on Sunday.

The package included a stay in London ,match tickets ,stadium tour.
It cost him around £1800.

When I asked if he had been given the match tickets he said that it would be another persons season ticket which they had loaned out to an agent who had arranged the package.

So the agent would have these season tickets on the day of the match.

I really hope this package is not a stitch up.

Also would Liverpool ask for id to match the names on the season tickets ?

If all goes well it would be his first time watching Liverpool which is something he has always wanted to do having supported them from abroad all his life

hi,

that's not a stitch up unfortunately.

it's common, people sell the big big game to cover the cost of season ticket and your mate will be handed a card which will be used to get through turnstile.

no they wont ask for id.

just be prepared as a group to be split up around the ground and agree where to meet up after.

I hope that helps cos you are going to get loads of abuse off the usual suspects here on this forum as well.

my guess is the lads paid at least 500 quid for that ticket off the travel agent.

we set up with Thomas cook to try cut this stuff out but it does go on. season ticket is expensive so some sell the really big games out, some are just sold outright etc.

it really gets on the goat of some reds fans cos they cant get in or are waiting 10-20 years on season ticket list.

I saw this 'ad' going around in South Africa for R25 000. But then it wasn't from the official site so I had my doubts. Great if it works out for them cos that's relatively cheap imo.

Will someone be able to confirm, individually what the stadium tour and match ticket would cost? I know you'll probably have to pay more than face value.

It all depends. this is a class i match as well. so as such prices are higher.

https://www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets/lfc-ticket-prices, this is however not entirely an accurate picture. like a £9 ticket. those are severely restricted and meant for locals

a match tick can range face value for "the best" aka close to jurgen down to some fairly poor views in the annie

stadium tours

https://bookings.liverpoolfc.com/stadiumtours/booking/pricing.htm

depends what you want again.

I hope it’s not a stitch up. Fans from abroad deserve the chance to enjoy the game as much as any local when they’re paying that sort of money.

Rumours that some people have multiple seasons ticket and sell them on the side. Read in echo once I think. Really is anoying to be honest as they are depriving other fans to enjoy game at reasonable price but are also ripping the club off where their sole intention is to make money.

This.

I know OT gets a bad rap for 'day trippers' etc but there is some warmth in seeing someone step through the door out into the stands for the first time, knowing it's a one time thing, especially when you can tell they love the club.

it's not ripping the club off.

all you need look at is a 54k stadium with only mid 20s in season tickets and the lottery of the 10k season on membership. we all know theres fans paying the club from all over to get the tickets so the locals are in a lottery with all those fans.

plus then you add in the 400 dead lfc fans with season tickets still active. you read that in the echo? club says it wants to have amnesty for the people using their late relatives ticket rather than take it off family and give it to next person on list.

it's a big joke.

if the annie does get done the number of season tickets added should be exactly 8000. aka every single new seat should be available to locals to get season ticket.

not a thing wrong with it.

what's wrong is companies paying over the odds for ticket then doubling price and ripping them off knowing the season ticket is never checked with ID.

the club really needs to announce an end to no ID from 2021 or whatever and give the fans coming security but end these rip offs.

itd be fairer to have whatever number of seats assigned to a membership scheme for locals, a number from seasons for day trippers in a separate scheme and all season tickets subject to random ID checks. aka on a rota of you will be checked at least twice per year on entry.

get the 61k but get the number of season tickets up and let the day trippers have a fair experience too.

the club would probably make more money that way.
