Our "workhorse" midfiled

Keep seeing it said that our midfielders are workhorses, are people actually watching them play? Trying to tell me Gini isn't a very good technical footballer? That Fab just has long legs? That all Henderson does is run?

Ok happy to say none of them might be as good on the ball as a David Silva or KDB but come on our lads aren't Lee fecking Cattermole...

You think Klopp tells Firmino he should look away from an open goal and shoot every time that opportunity presents itself?

think one of the reasons ox was so frustrated at being subbed was that he knows now that fab is back he wont be starting in the big games again .gini and Jordan are simply too good

surely different teams will pose different challenges.
is man utd considered a big game in the way that city would be. sometimes i think klopp doesn't have enough faith in ox and keita to help break down these teams that park the bus and just relies on the front three to score enough to win.

I think he has plenty of faith in their ability, Keita especially was breaking teams down well. It’s their fitness that’s restricted their playing time. Keita would definitely be a regular starter, Ox probably not so much.

I think he says to express himself but I doubt no look finishes comes under the tactical set up.

The point I was trying to make really...how much does personal expression affect the way a player plays a certain role in the team. It's definitely not a 50/50 split imo.

I mean every person in the world including Klopp would've held onto that ball yesterday and played down the clock....apart from one person on the field.

Football is a funny game.

When Klopp joined Liverpool, lalana was such a crucial player for liverpool especially leading the press. Injuries and the signing of better players meant he had give way to others.
I have a feeling Ox's career will go the same. I said the same thing when he joined Liverpool that if Liverpool grows as a club he will see bench time and it appears thats what is going to happen.

You can understand why he opted not to join Chelsea as he thought he would have more of a chance at Liverpool but just like Barkley, unless you are as good as Stevie G, the box to box midfielder is a dying breed.

Top European teams rarely have room for an average one let alone an excellent one.

You talking crap again.

I remember you bashing Hendo and Gini because thought they were mediocre players. Arsenal would not be overrun in midfield if you had those two.

Ox is returning from an injury so Klopp is careful with him. He will get enough games. He gives us penetration which the other midfield players don't offer.

Klopp loves Ox. Gave him a new contract when he couldn't walk!

All our midfielders are very good footballers as well has having serious engines.

Wij has been megging players all season.

did I seriously just read box to box midfielders are dead.

what utter rot.

every midfielders job is to stay with play.

this is why pogba is pointless and why defensive side shuffles are pointless too.

Some of our own fans on here unfortunately help to perpetuate this myth.

People who are blind to the technical excellence of Gini don't really understand football. Under pressure he keeps the ball so well and brings other players into the game. All our midfielders do work exceptionally hard (the whole team does), but this is allied with ability.
