We just don’t learn

News today that both Rafa Mujica and Guille Amor are set to leave in January.

Just more massive waste of time money and resources signing these foreign players. Just because they are released from Barcelona, we take a punt on them. 2 year contract for Amor and 3-year contract for Mujica and they’ve lasted 6 months and never played for the club in a competitive game even at u23 level.

Just how many of these players have come in and left now? Orta must have chanced his arm at 20? and not one has been successful.

The only positive is the freeing of wages along with Coyle and Cibicki who left the club on permanent deals but when are we going to concentrate our finances on finding players to get us out of this division? Certainly the signing of an 8th goalkeeper has done nothing to boost our hopes.

Over to you Jonty!

I asked a few week back where Amor was because he was neither out on loan nor playing. Clearly he was so poor that he wasn’t even trusted in the u23s.

You’d think that given these players have been released we would offer them a weeks trial - put them up in a decent hotel and look after etc in case they are good. Run the risk of them been signed elsewhere but if you get in quick and make them feel wanted and special you could get through the trial and then send the buggers home when you find they are rubbish. Might cost you 5 grand a player. These lads will be on minimum 1000 a week. 3 year contact - 160k. They’ve probably cost the club 300k signing these 2 lumps minimum.
If we hadn’t signed all these terrible kids we could have paid roofe a season at £35k

We’re paying for numerous analysis packages, paying staff to analyse and scout, go watch these players abroad etc it all costs money, there is a cost to bringing these players in, it’s not the case of nothing lost if it doesn’t work out, it eats into our ability to scout others and to pay for others.

Prioritisation. Concentrate on the here and now and bolster your squad with those two to three extra players who can help us sustain Bielsa ball season/ keep Roofe etc or pretent we are Man City signing a plethera of under 23s never to he seen again.

Get promoted first get the Sky money then worry about creating the next Ajax recreation.

Norwich and Sheff Utd didn't worry about U23's. It serves no purpose whatsoever unless we had an obvious eye for talent which we clearly don't.

Other sides aren’t going to release their best U23s. Just focus on quality coaching and route to first team and our academy will produce.

what will become of us after bielsa leaves.
i have less than zero confidence in orta. i gave him a little slack because he brought in marcelo but without the proper tools even a master craftsman can't produce anything.
at least ive enjoyed these past 2 seasons more than the 13 previous but the disappointment is greater.

I'm pretty sure I defended this policy initially, but not sure? I know I was wary of Orta - didn't think much of him or his work. And I know I lauded him when he brought in Bielsa. But, this youth policy of his is a living, breathing fooking disaster.
