We were always going to have a hard time after SAF and Gill quit
Woodward was thrown in at the deep end with little apparent support. He might not be the best, but he certainly isn’t one of the worst.
City and Liverpool have been brilliant in recent years, and Spurs very good
There aren’t many, if any managers around of the calibre of Pep or Klopp
Our past successes / status in the game has put huge pressure on our manager post SAF
Our fans are super demanding. FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup wins since 2013 / 2014 is considered failure by many.
Our sporting set up was in need of modernising (now under way)
Player recruitment post SAF has generally been poor
Clubs have never been richer
There are are many reasons why we are where are currently, with the owners, board, past managers and players all having played a part.
Where we are and why

I suspect City got Pep because they brought in Begiristain, Soriano, revamped the youth system, revamped the training centre and had a clear project before getting Pep himself.
Utd brought in Matt Judge, an economics graduate from Bristol University.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who identifies City's targets and negotiates the deal?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Begiristain gives Pep a list and Pep chooses apparently. So they wanted VVD and then moved onto Laporte.
Whatever City and Liverpool do they seem to get it right. Listen to that podcast I mentioned earlier. As said if Liverpool overtake Utd financially then that's mental really.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And who identifies these players on Bergisteins list?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guardiola
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it's Begiristain and the scouts I think. Im sure Pep sees players and asks for them to be looked though.
Why do you KEEP asking questions RDD?
What's your angle?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City are being used as a great example of how succesful a DOF can be however it appears that he simply gathers the scouts reports and asks Pep who he wants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well no because he over sees the youth system and development. When Pep leaves he'll ensure the style, philosophy and culture continues because he directs the football. The players they scout will all fit that too. That's the point and it is indeed a great example.

Hardly. Klopp cant give a straight answer why he didn't take the United job. We all know it's because he wanted an easy ride at a smaller club with no expectations of him, and there are reports to support that.
Go find them if you wish. Iv no need to verify ny comments for some guy on the wrong page.

So now we have gone to "we all know he wanted an easy ride" so we're back full circle to it being your opinion and not fact. You say there are links, there aren't. You even found time to post one thinking it backed you up when it didn't.
Oh dear.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are back to Klopp cant give a straight answer why he didnt take a job at a hugely commercial club , and instead took an easier job with little expectation of him.
