According to De Telegraaf, the leading Dutch newspaper, we have agreed terms with PSV for the transfer of Steven Bergwijn.
The two clubs were in negotiations on Monday and in the evening an agreement was finally reached. PSV will receive more than €30 million for the 22-year-old.
Bergwijn’s agent Fulco van Kooperen held positive talks with Jose Mourinho and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy last week. Bergwijn will now sign a five-and-a-half year deal in London.
The Netherlands international joined PSV from the Ajax academy back in 2011 and he made 149 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and adding 45 assists.
Bergwijn is already in London for a scheduled medical with us.
Whilst not the striker we need, this is a very exciting signing for us. He will give us much needed pace and can play across the frontline, on either wing or through the middle.
This is a player I believe can make the transition from the Eredivisie to the Premier League comfortably.
Think Adam Traore but with better ball control in my opinion
Deal Agreed!

If VDV rates him, that is good enough for me

The PSV manager who played with the legend that is Romario recently said Bergwijn reminded him of him, one of my favorite all time players. Good enough for me.

Looks like we're spending the money we got for Erkisen on him.
So really this deal does make a lot of sense. We get rid of a player who was incredible but had given up, and replace with a young player with the potential to give us something a bit different. Low risk because he's effectively paid for by Eriksen who we'd have lost in the summer for nothing.
In theory, we still have money for a striker.
Hope it all works out

A young and highly rated Netherlands international with impressive stats, who comes highly recommended by a former Dutch legend, at £25m there is a good chance PSV have been Levy'ed here. Hopefully he doesnt flop like many other players coming from the Dutch league.
