We've been up and down this season. This was an up, a big one. The players we bought last summer are growing into it. One or two players are still a bit on the weak side; not too impressed with Hause. But this was a great team performance. Nyland was outstanding, so were Nakamba and Luiz in mid field. And players like Targett and Trezeguet are playing with belief.

Wembley! Third year on the trot. Becoming a habit.

Hope we've got something left for Bournemouth on Saturday.

This is the problem - the league cup is a distraction you don’t need. Lose to Bournemouth on Saturday and you’re in real trouble. Remember Birmingham?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I personally would agree with this. If you look over the 2 legs are we really ready for a final against a side as good as City when Leicester outplayed us in both games? Obviously I'd love for us to win the final and stay in the league, but if I had to choose between the two staying up would be my choice every time. The team clearly needs more quality to compete in the PL as we're a long way away from sides like Wolves and Leicester and I think that has to be our goal over say doing a Birmingham or a Wigan (winning a cup then going down).

Whether getting to a final will distract them in the league or give them the confidence boost to steer clear of relegation, who knows, obviously hope it's the latter.

We were shiiiiite on the whole (as we have been all season) but got the win.

Echo Sandy’s comments, I’ve been reading classless comments from Leicester fans like ‘hope City stuff them in the final and they go down’. What a bunch of morons. Aside from a fluke PL title win and a good season this season, they are an insignificant club who seem to believe they are really big based on absolutely nothing. Been mediocre most of the time I’ve followed football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you’re mistaking one or two fan’s comments with the views of the Leicester fans as a whole.

My take on the games is below. Think this is balanced and I also wish you well in the final. You deserve to be there.

Also understand that as Leicester fans it matters not about our history, or how mediocre we’ve been. Right now these are the greatest years we’ve ever had to enjoy. We have one of the best teams we’ve ever had, and do we will get frustrated when we play below our capability and fail to deal with a well organised Villa team. This isn’t beleiving we should just turn up and beat you, this is being annoyed that we didn’t play as we can in losing to you.

Anyway, to all sensible Villa fans - I hope you win in the final. To the OPoster, I still hope you get stuffed 😉

On the game... I’m not having this “Villa were rubbish” chat.

Villa deserved to go through as tactically they did a better job of playing to their strengths than we did. They were tactically better than us.

You can count all our chances up and say we played better, but the reality is that when Villa attacked yesterday we looked a lot more vulnerable than they did when we attacked. They looked in shape, organised and tight. We looked ragged, out of shape and far far to easy to get in behind.

Say what you like about the quality of that Villa team, but for me they played those two legs better than we did, and they fully warrant their place in the final.

I'd go with that. We've found the return to the PL tough, although even when we've dropped into the bottom three we've managed to not drop too far. The players are getting used to each other as well as the PL.

However, I think that was the best performance we've put on so far. The players are stepping up. The midfield duo of Nakamba and Luiz were playing as we hoped they would. If buying Samatta solves our weakness up front I think we'll be OK.

I didn't ask you to go

When life revolves around keeping oxygen in the lungs
Or being able to walk to the kitchen to microwave a hot meal
Life has more important things to think on 😊

You are one of the decent, level-headed Leicester fans, unfortunately most of the ones I've come across are bitter tw@ts

It was quite clear from the outset that last night’s match thread was going to go “haywire” once an outsider became involved. I don’t think I can ever remember a fan (or would-be follower) inputting against the grain on one of Dublin’s very popular and highly emotive match day columns. Unusually, I stayed away because it was quite obviously going to explode. Can you imagine, for instance, if I had continually entered comments on Shrewsbury’s behalf on the Liverpool board last weekend. I wouldn’t have lasted five minutes before I incurred their wrath and, quite justifiably, was told to “get on my bike”. That’s not to say an outsider shouldn’t get in involved, of course not, but proceed with care as to what you input.

Last night was emotionally charged. Our side on the brink of a much sought-after Final and performing well in the League and other Cup competition. It marked 50 years to the night when I stood on the terraces at Filbert Street on one of our “Glory nights” in the FA Cup which, regrettably, have become few and far between these days so much so that we now hanker each occasion not knowing when the next one will come around.

Fair enough, there was a title to be won 3 years ago and a high-riding position in the table right now but the overall better years were enjoyed at some point in 60’s with teams so full of individual talent that it was a crime that they underachieved. “Carry on swinging the lead” some of you will probably be saying as you cringe. I’ll talk you into the ground over our 2-3-5’s and the stars that performed in each of those positions. No “tin pot” about this club either, though I hasten to admit we’ve suffered an immense of mediocrity over the past 40 years or so. As for the “fluke” Premier League title, I shall say for the last time because I am sick to death of saying it. City were the outstanding team over 38 league games and fully deserved it. You cannot fluke such a coveted achievement over a whole football season.
