I really think Spurs should view Dele Alli as a false 9 - similar to Firmino's role for Liverpool.
He's so inconsistent as an attacking midfielder & often lacks the intensity & dynamism in his play to be trusted as a no.10, but at his best he links play well, is creative and knows where to be to score goals.
He's tall, strong in the air, and has the potential to be far better at shielding the ball than he already is.
He can be a great foil to Son and Bergwijn/Lucas' potential goalscoring exploits in the absence of Kane
Personally always felt that finding a holding DM for Ndombele & Lo Celso to express themselves would be a more important find in Jan...Winks will have to do his fair share of homework on Fernandinho and fill that gap for now

Totally agree with the OP, he's basically a second striker in the 4231 formation anyway.
A switch to 433 with Dele floating in the middle takes some of the pressure off the CF position. It suits the midfield, wingers, and fullbacks better too.
