What Ole maybe needs

so he's "clueless", "naive", etc etc etc

when you consider his lieutenants one thing stands out, he needs a quality attacking first team coach.

Sure he and Carrick 'get' United, probably so does Phelan (albeit from a former era of football) and McKenna is apparently the youth specialist.

Ole strikes me as a rule by committee kinda guy.

I think maybe he needs an attacking coach. I mean consider, no-one doubts he knows what it takes to be a world class finisher, Carrick knows what its like to maintain possession and keep the game ticking, but neither of them know what its like to link the two.

I think that shows.

Everyone loves beating on Ole and why not, they love beating on the most successful PL team in history, but, while our results are poor, we pretty much controlled wolves (while lacking penetration), the same wolves who did the double over city and were unlucky to lose to Pool, all while missing a whole midfield an this top scorer.

this will upset some, but we really aren't as bad as it seems. Sure we lack that final pass, that killer opening, but that was only the third time wolves failed to score since Nuno took over.

while the personnel right now obviously needs further work, im not really getting down with the negativity. controlling games and struggling to find that killer pass is 1 issue not 100. id rather we had one issue not 100.

sure I can get on board with the fact we needed another forward, and whether that's ole or Ed I don't know but Pogba out basically all season but 5 games is rough on Ole and Utd. lets not forget he was the most productive midfielder in Europe for goals and assists last season, that's a big loss to anyone.

TL:DR I really believe if Ole got a cultured attacking coach to help sort that final aspect out we'd see a big turn up in performances, when the midfield is back and Rashford is fit.

I look forward to the incoming Liverpool fans views who came here "because its on the football board" and the "frothing" and "massive bites" my fellow united fans will serve up

I actually don't think it was a bad point for Utd.

I think wolves have been quite overrated these last few weeks. Granted they managed an excellent double over City, but aside from that they’ve managed wins against a few teams fighting relegation.

They’ve only won 8 league games. That’s less than the likes of Burnley and Everton. Even Utd have won more than them.

They’re a decent 2nd tier premier league side. Not really a yardstick for big teams to measure themselves against

Maybe manfrom but they're hard to beat and have an excellent record against top sides. They've played shiiiiiit loads of football so far too.

Let the op be whipped within a inch of his life for such a blatant omission

That would be brutally excessive.

I think it'll be fine if someone just points out the omission and leaves it at that, no need for whipping.

"What Ole maybe needs"

A good book on tactics!!

Wolves have a playing style which is suited to beat the top teams but come up short against compact defences.

Man United lack intelligent movement off the ball.
A centre forward running in the channel to drag the CB out of position to create space in the centre area for example. We scored a few goals against Southampton with Firmino making runs or moving
into the channels.

Your players are too static which points to a coaching problem.

tbh i think the answer is 100% give oli a 10 year deal and keep giving him 100+ million to spend... he has done an exceptional job so far

Id say Wolves are much better than united in terms of identity and playing style.
Their coach is on another level to oli. Always look solid and every player knows his job, even the unfancied ones that arent as well known.
Id also say wolves recruitment has been miles better than uniteds.
For he progress theyve made in a short period of time id be worried about wolves if i was a united fan.

controlling games and struggling to find that killer pass is 1 issue not 100. id rather we had one issue not 100.

---------------------------------------------

Those are two separate issues but anyway, if those were our only two issues, we wouldn't be so poor and play such anaemic football.

Our play lacks speed, risk and ingenuity. We hold onto the ball for far too long at times and when it comes to the final third, we keep allowing opposition defences to get back into shape because we're too slow and aren't sure how to penetrate so we just end up moving the ball from side to side around the edge of the box.

Our movement has been a concern right throughout the season. Passing and moving and making use of third man runners isn't something we're very good at. Also, going back to playing with risk, often this season we haven't had enough men in the box.

More than just one or two issues there.

Even though Ighalo isn't a stellar name I'm hoping his mere presence in the box and willingness to work will perhaps be a lightbulb moment. Weve played plenty of dangerous balls into the box but with no one there to finish it off. Losing one and winning one is better than drawing two (unless against direct rivals) so I'm hoping after we've played Chelsea and Spurs away in the next few games we actually attack the rest of the season.

This article actually reminds me of several on the Liverpool board a few years ago. There were calls for Klopp to either add to the defensive coaching team or specifically replace the goalkeeping coach.

We got rid of Karius and brought in Alisson and suddenly nobody wants Achterberg replaced anymore.

Sometimes the simplest explanations are that right ones.
