Our boring football

Is at least partly on purpose
When Ole took over we had all those wins culminating in the PSG one. The players were let off the leash and were Gung ho, plus Pogba was in form. Then came the collapse.
I think Ole thought that if he wanted to keep his job things had to be different.
Stiffen the defence, have three pacy mobile forwards, and Pogba giving them the bullets.
To a degree it worked. Injuries haven't helped.

I can't see into Ole's head, but it s likely.
Who he buys in the summer will tell us more about his plans. Which I hope are more adventurous.

Burning him out?
We have a 2 week rest...why not play him yesterday against a team who are renowned for sitting back?

Okay then. Greenwood is obviously a talented finisher, but his build up play in recent games was lacking in a big big way. He needs to develop that aspect of his game, and I'm sure he will. But whilst we're creating very little, Greenwood giving the ball to opponents doesn't help out chances. Disagree? Has he been playing well? Questions like this are exactly why he needs rested now and again

When we come up against teams who sit in we have too many players who lose possession in and around their box, Pereira, AWB, Lingard, Martial to name a few, no intensity to our attack, then wolves are straight down the other end of the pitch,
Luckily Maguire is starting to look the part now and that bodes well, just need a new partner for him in the summer

It's not about boring football, it's about effective football. Any form of modern effective football which alot of other teams ( even lower) play are naturally entertaining to watch. We hardly create any clear cut chances.

Fernandes was box to box yesterday. Pretty obviously demonstrated by the number of shots and passes he made in the final third of the pitch.... He played slightly deeper in the second half out of tactical necessity because Pereira was getting murdered in that position in the first half.

I don't think we've been very good this season, at all. We've been pretty poor overall. Being boring isn't something I'd level at us too often though. Wolves are the most one dimensional team on Earth, so I won't read too much into any of our multiple games against them.

Maybe the two Burnley games. 3 points a piece and very little football to like over the course of it

Fernandes was the top chance creator in the portugese league. Yes Greenwood gives the ball away however so does Perreira, Lingard and James. However out the 4 if a chance came their way who would you want on the end of it?

A well rested Greenwood. Not a guy who'se just turned 18 and shouldn't be considered a first choice pick every week.

He shouldn't be considered every week but that is where we are at. I am all for not burning him out however this moment in time we need points and he is streets ahead of James, Perreira and Lingard

It has been said that Ole can’t set up a defence and we’re now seeing that is not the case, but absolutely, it’s going to be interesting to see how that central midfield can develop more of an attacking force as well.

Anyone complaining about Fernandes being moved to a dm position clearly doesn't understand the game.

For starters he wasnt shifted to a dm position, he was moved into a midfield 2.... I wonder if people considered Scholes a dm in 99 when he played in a midfield 2.

Secondly we were being overrun in there at times in the first half with Andreas and fred in there, so with zero options on the bench he dropped Fernandes back slightly deeper... who else was there? Mata? Lingard?

Agreed, we need to be more adventurous at times, but come the end if the season that 1 point could be a huge difference.

Also anyone thinking fernandes is just a number 10 has never seen him play and is just basing him on his goalscoring record
