February 2nd - Rangers 7 points behind Celtic with a game in hand and 9 goals worse off.
Make no mistake about it gents, the past week has been monumental in this seasons title race. We’re now at a point where Rangers literally can’t afford any more dropped points otherwise the season could be over by the end of this month.
I suspected Aberdeen would get a point, hence my prediction in the predictor. Rangers playing midweek and also stuttering since the winter break against an obviously motivated Aberdeen side who would have been fresh. Truth be told Aberdeen should have won the game.
That led to a massive game yesterday and I don’t have many criticisms of yesterday, only that I’d have liked is to fly out the traps like St Johnstone first half. We were very slow however and it invited Hamilton on to us and Big Julien was having a nuke.
Once Hamilton scored you got the feeling we had to score before half time otherwise we’d have struggled. In the end, it took some naivety from a 17 year old Hamilton defender to give us a chance back into the game, red card was correct. The free kick expertly taken from Edouard, a lot of pundits criticised the keeper but he’s not expecting him to be able to get the ball up and down that quick, it’s a wonderful free kick.
Now, just before that, Griffiths had a moment of stupidity. It’s a red card, the boy does grab his foot but he doesn’t need to come down on the boys chest, he knew what he was doing.
Shortly after the equaliser, Hamilton should have been down to 9 men. McGowan with a leg breaker on McGregor.
2nd half was all a bit huff and puff to be honest but Lennon got his subs absolutely spot on. They were used at the right time, they were the right players, especially Hayes. Taylor was on a booking and he was also unbelievably s*1te so Hayes offered us someone who could at least take the Hamilton full back on. His desire also helps with our 2nd goal. Pass to Christie who sent in a peach or a cross and Julien once again with a big goal, lovely finish. He’s better in the opposition box than ours
After that the flood gates opened and it could have been 5 or 6, the 3rd is a lovely goal. Edouard at his very best and Rogic’s pass is sublime.
Edouard missed a glorious chance to make it 4 and get a hat trick which would have taken him to 23 for the season. His stats are phenomenal, 39 games, 22 goals and 17 assists, a goal or assist in every game.
Forrest finished off another good move for the 4th.
2 away games left of this block, Motherwell on Wednesday who are going to be right up for it. Should be a cracker of a game to be honest, looking forward to it.
Clyde on Sunday where a few fringe players should get a chance.
