Superb from the kids last night, great win.

The u-23s absolutely drank in the applause after the final whistle and rightfully so.

The stats alone with 58% possession and forcing 14 corners to their 3, while not conceding a single shot on target just shows the dominance the lads displayed.

They really did themselves and the 53,000 crowd proud, playing with serious composure and some stylish swagger that the Shrewsbury players couldn’t handle and kept bringing them down. Shrewsbury committed 18 fouls, while the lads only committed one. Effectively trying to bully the kids.

2 nervy moments from Hoever in our own box was the height of trouble. Talking of height, Sepp van den Berg was absolutely immense he won absolutely everything in the air.
Curtis Jones was faaaackking brilliant. Elasticos, sweeping meggz and rabonas coming out.

We should have scored way before we got a goal, we were a little light up front, still Millar gave it everything. Convinced if Origi was playing he would easily have got a hattrick.

Properly enjoyable night that, tickets were reduced but the quality was really up there. This wasn’t about money. This was about football. It was really really good from the kids.

Critch and his lads did their lap of honour well deserved. The future is looking sound, not all of these kids will make it to the top top level but Curtis Jones seems to have that confidence that he can do anything and probably models himself on Gerrard. If he can even be half of Stevie he will be some player.

Did us all proud.

Great to hear, the future is incredibly bright for us at the moment. Genuinely believe you could put our U23s (let's call them U20s) in League One or League Two and they'd do well.

They're only 6th out of 12 in their own U23 league

Sssst, they are amazing, best youth squad in the world. Soon to be crowned champions of 6th out of 12 in their own U23 league.

The team never even scored a goal.

Good result nonetheless. Definitely a unique match for them and Klopp got to make his statement and got out on top.

Well under 23 team full of mainly 16,17,18 yr olds, whilst omitting brewster/Wilson etc. I'd say the performance was very impressive as it was men against boys.
Some of them kids have 5 years plus at that age bracket so they still have an age to improve even more.

We won one nil, should we have allowed them up our end to make it level?

I was listening in and TBH the crowd sounded fabulous. The YNWA before the game was really proper.

The fact is the "u23 team" is not actually together very much.

You get guys dropping in and out all the time. depending on what's going on so its not easy get any consistency for them.

Leighton Clarkson was nothing short of brilliant.

Not sure if it was because of the delayed kick off but YNWA was right before kick off, which is about 5 mins later than usual.

Players responded to it

It sounded like a european night. I think the crowd mix helped that big time.

I'm happy for a few lads who've proabably worked 10/12 years for this highight of their career

Adam Lewis, won't see much better than this
Dixon bonner, we took him from arsenal but his family are all reds apparently
Boyce got on.
Hardy got a touch.

Jones, elliot and williams have all got career's ahead of them for us I think. The two young lads in CM were great.

Was a superb game last night... we might be talking about some of these youngsters as the ‘Class of 2020’ in a few years time.

The atmosphere in the Kop was superb, really grateful to have joined the Autocup and that we’re still in the competition.

The way that Harvey and curtis kept the ball in the corner was brilliant in the final minutes.

Their no.2 was all over Sepp at every single one of the 14 corners.
