have you watched Spurs be plucky losers in cup games.
How many times have we come away from matches having been the better team but ultimately lost. Losing to a team who simply know better how to win key games and stay in competitions. Too feckin many times !!
How may trophies have we won in the last feck knows how long, how many finals
I am delighted we got through last night.
In a game where we were down to the bare bones, no Lamela, GLC, Bergwijn, Kane and Alli not fit to start we, unsurprisingly, lacked any sort of creativity and the strikers were isolated, until we were able to bring on Alli to act as the link.
In a game not long after the effort of the Man City game and a clearly tired squad. Saints with an extra days rest.
I see this result for what it is. A difficult tie, vs a form team at full strength, at a very difficult time for the squad and one that we won. Next round baby The rest of you can moan and grumble all you like about quality of the performance. It matters not. The result matters.....im pretty sure you'd take our position over Saints' after they played so well.
How many times....

what people are not understanding is that the reason many people will accept this type of football (including me) is because we have not won anything for how long? 1 trophy in 21 years, we need to get one over the line and get this "bottle job" tag off our shoulders, playing great is always nice to watch for the fans but if it leads to nothing then what???
Sorry just finishing top four every year is not good enough..............once we win a trophy then hopefully the style will improve but we really need to get this tag off of us.............
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely. Nonsense all this pretty football stuff. Fans want success, and frankly if Spurs were holding up a trophy at the end of the season after serving up dross for most of it, who would really care. Football is about winning, not playing nice tippy tappy stuff and losing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it one or the other?

I don’t think it needs to be one or the other mate. I think nice football could eventually come once Jose properly gets his team set next season, but in the meantime we are winning games whilst not playing brilliantly. We were losing games under Poch and also not playing brilliantly. If Jose can get us over the line and finally land a trophy for spurs in what has been an absolute pathetic baron spell, I couldn’t careless how we do it.

Levy seems to get all the blame, but has anyone read Pochettino’s book?
Levy wanted to get a DM, Poch told him not to bother, he’s turn Dier into a DM.
I would let be surprised if it was Poch’s choice to not bother with a new RB, with the idea being to turn Foyth into our regular RB.
Let’s see what happens in the summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not backed up by Pochettino's behaviour and quotes in the press about being brave etc. He clearly didn't feel he was properly backed at the back end of his Spurs career.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In truth, Pochettino (at the end) was talking in riddles and his mood seemed to change in each interview.

So true, the bottle job tag has to go ASAP and I do not care how we do it let's just get that first trophy, how ppl can be content with 1 trophy in 21 years is beyond me.............................

When he broke our transfer record and brought in three other players? I smell BS.

Agreed even before the CL final he talked about walking away if we went on to win it. In hindsight, the moment he started crying after the Semi final win his lack on winner mentality shone through. Winners do not cry in a semi final. Never saw Klopp or Jose or SAF cry after a semi lol

Exactly mate. Some fans on here are though. They prefer pretty football winning f** all every season to winning stuff playing boring. Give me trophies any day of the week.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. But let’s be a winning team first. Let’s be a team that somehow wins. We can then add performance later
We look that way right now

I think even Jose would admit that playing badly and winning is fine but should be the exception and not the rule.
Good performances tend to lead to good result, more than bad performances lead to lead result. The focus will be on good performances.
I can see signs of improvement with GLC being key to this and the better attacking balance with have with Bergwijn. But last night the balance was awful but it was pretty much the only lineup he could put out, except for may be risking Alli from the start.

Right this is a stupid debate. Yes yesterday we were poor there is no doubt about that but we did win which is important.
Why we are still talking about Poch god only knows, he is gone and to be fair despite the great times he gave us it was time for him to go and that showed on the pitch and with his interviews. What manager threatens to leave if their team wins the CL? Ridiculous.
I am no Jose fan but how can you actually judge anything about him with regards to Spurs? He has come in when we were in trouble, he has faced injuries left right and centre, we are still in the cup albeit after not playing well and he has pushed us up the league table.
I dont think we will win the cup and altho I doubt doubt Jose would love to and will give it his best shot he has to be looking at next season to really show us what he can achieve.
At this point in time we cannot judge and should not even think about winning something because with our injury list we really just are not good enough.
Next season after 10 games will be the time to offer an opinion on Jose lets hope it turns out being a good opinion.
