Thoughts from tonight

Got in late we're already 1-0 down.

Thought we showed a lot of energy, heads hadn't dropped, performance was generally good, we know we don't make most of it up top so no change there.

10+ corners, just pointless, really need to change the tactics there as we might as well just give ball to keeper to restart play as we do nothing with it.

Thought Cooper and Philips were excellent, Dallas was good, Klich too.

Really like Costa but we just don't make full use of his pace and the tame shot on goal makes it seem such a waste to be paying 15 mill for him.

Casilla.

I thought he cost us dearly last season and is now costing us dearly again this season. This player is a hugely expensive mistake. 3 more years of contract at 1.5+ mill per year and 12 points per year.

If Bielsa was going to drop BPF for Blackman then he needs to have teh balls to drop Casilla for Meslier.

Augustin. Just don't see anything there, no hint of anything. I heard today that he's not improving in training, it speaks volumes of how poorly that Bamford is doing that Augustin gets 15 mins.

Overall, pleased with a point away at promotion rivals in London.

The corners, the chances, this is down to Bielsa. I don't want to hear any more bull about how we've better players, I want him to start coming up with answers. Change the corners for goodness sake. Try 2 up top for last 10 minutes maybe, where is Poveda who Kinnear told us was better than Clarke.

I'll take a point, but this has to be followed by a win as currently this is still relegation form.

Just watched the highlights from last night. Interesting nobody has meeting the cheeky foul from White for the Leeds goal. Definite push which affects the keepers jump to claim the ball. Fairly certain VAR rules that out.

....and whilst we are talking referees I go back to the Millwall game where we saw Radz on Twitter, Orta smashing monitors and meltdown on social media. It’s only just come to my attention a tread/stamp made by Klich in the game that went unpunished both during and retrospectively. No idea what the score was at the time but it’s another big decision to go our way

Wouldn't have Alioski or Casilla in the side

Both are complete weapons.

Agree on Augustin. He looks way short of fitness.

Kiko is a weird one. Seems to define us. He is either in control for a good run of games or falls apart

Wouldn't particularly have Alioski starting, but he's often useful coming off the bench with his energy in games.

Jonty - He did manage to control the ball 3 times...

"Relegation form," Jonty? That's a serious bit of spinning, isn't it?

Agree that the glass seems more than half empty after the recent slump and am seriously cheesed off we didn't take three points home with us last night - Bamford and Casilla, Augustin's fitness, etc.

But nonetheless, we bossed the game - away at a very useful Brentford plus Pontus. I am very pleased and relieved we didn't bottle it last night, and indeed that quite the opposite happened.

January could be just a pain barrier in the longdistance race that is football season and we're now going to pile on through down the last section of the course with a fresh wind in our sails. Might even see some goals and some clean sheets? Last night restored our hopes too, at least to a certain extent, surely?

While you have a right to express what you think however you see fit, I think using the term "relegation form" is defeatist. Whatever the argument about whether the squad is stronger than last year, or even strong enough to succeed in bagging an auto spot, we are still in with a fantastic chance of doing so, perhaps even a better chance than last year given the fixtures list?

1 win in 7 matches 5 points out of 21 is relegation form.

I couldn’t agree more. Our current form IS relegation form. I believe we were 22nd in the form table over the last 10 games.

--------
This time last season after 32 matches we were top on 61 points, 3 points clear of third place. Right now w're down in second with only 56 points, only 1 point clear of third placed team who have a game in hand.

Indeed it's possible that after tonights fixtures that 7th placed team is only 3 points behind us.
