Summer Transfer Window

Seeing a lot of people wondering if the potential Ziyech deal means we have ruled out the possibility of signing Sancho. I think it’s still very much possible and hope the club go balls out to sign him.

We could exercise our buy back option on Boga and offer him as part exchange, giving Dortmund a ready made, highly rated replacement. Or we could simply sell him on elsewhere and use the profit. Barca are apparently interested.

Potential Outgoings:
Batshuayi (£25m)
Zouma (£30m)
Alonso (£25m)
Zappacosta (£10m)
Morata (£60m already agreed)
Bakayoko (£20m)
Drinkwater (£5m)
Barkley (£20m)
Willian, Pedro and Giroud contracts expire.

Total: ~£200m + wages off the bill. Arguably conservative estimates in some of those cases to be fair given our track record with outgoing transfers.

Potential Incomings:
Sancho £100-120m + Boga.
Ziyech £40m.
Werner/Dembele/Other ST £40-60m.
New LB ~£60m.
Boga ~£10m.
Possibly a new CB or bring in Ampadu/Guehi.

Total spend: £250-290m for a net spend of £50-90m.

Of course that is an awful lot of transfer business and it’s most likely that not all of it will happen in one window but we really do need a busy summer to clear out deadwood and get the squad in shape for the coming years. Spurs and United will be looking to rebuild and Arsenal are there.

I’m not disputing whether Sancho would join us, but with Ziyech now we would be kissing goodbye to one of CHO or Pulisic as one of them will suffer for game time.

It would be tough, it does look like we’ve maybe burned our bridges, although we use to have Cole/robben/duff for two spots...at one point we had Lampard deco ballack Essien and Mikel for 2 midfield spots

You have a look at a club like PSG who have 2 players for each position, maybe we’re getting back to that, god knows with our injuries we need it

I think this signing all but rules us out of signing Sancho, unless we plan to ofload Pulisic or CHO.

We could probably afford him, especially after all the money we've made from selling players over the last season or two. I just think that his £120 million price tag puts him out of reach of what the club would be willing to pay on a player.

I agree, i don;t thik we have the appetite to spend that amount of money on a young player,,,,how ever good he is........

When you look at the Kante and Hazard signings, then i think the club can make a strong case fior not spending £120

Wouldn't use Hazard as an example, £32m was a big fee back in 2012, probably the equivalent of spending £90m now on today's market - especially when you consider the record at the time was Ronaldo with £80m.

I consider Hazard our last "statement" signing - taking one of the mot coveted young players in world football ahead of league champions City and Fergie's United.

We paid £21m for SWP in 2005
