The door opens again

So 4th, 5th and 6th couldn’t muster a win between them

How many times have we followed stuttering sides only to do the same (or worse) ourselves?

Beat Watford and CL starts to look a reality again, mess things up and the manager can’t have any complaints about any criticism that comes his way

The first 30 minutes at the Etihad was the best football i have seen by us since probably when we beat Roma 7-1.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That roma game was a freak game, would never happen in another 50 tries, but it was scintillating stuff.

I’m not sure about that statement hafi, but we certainly got right at them.

Ole we could easily have scored 6 goals in first 30 minutes at the etihad, home of the record breaking champions. That's insane. Never seen a Pep Guardiola side ripped to shreds like that.

Face it rdd, ole has a fantastic record vs the best teams in the league. You may not like him, but give the man time to get the players he wants in. Instead of moaning.

Goes for Uww too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont dislike him and I don't disagree about his record against the top clubs.

My point was it's no good beating Chelsea then losing tknWatford.

I say no say, his tactics could be the best in the world but if they keep having 30 shots and conceding 1 shot and losing every week, the manager can't really do much to turn that around. The manager has a say in if they are set up to win they usually win more games in the long run.

Thats why usually the top managers are used to see there side dominate and win regularly. Look at Liverpool and Man Utd this season. Both sides similar in domination. One side has twice as many points as the other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But I just don't believe what you're saying. We had less shots against Chelsea, less clear cut chances, less xG, less everything than goals on Monday night. Likewise against City when we beat them at the Emptyhad, Liverpool when we drew with them. Even Spurs when we beat them. So we've been best at winning games we don't deserve to win, based on your criteria. I

s that the sign of a good team? Or a sustainable way of playing?

Expected goals can be nonsense at times.

I seen a month or two ago big chances given as worse then a speculative long range shot for XG. Liverpool after 26 league games have 76 points and Man Utd have 38. Liverpool after 26 league games attempted 25 shots more and faced 24 fewer shots, even with huge VAR difference.

So a team with twice as many points are averaging less than a shot more per game and allowing less than a shot less against them per game.

Man Utd 1.48 vs 0.54 for Spurs in our 2-1 win and Spurs got a lucky goal. Liverpool game they created 2 chances although one of them was a big chance which they took, all from a poor quality cross late on. We had come close 3 times to scoring with keeper beaten but missed the target just and then Liverpool score from nothing without really creating any chances.

Honestly don’t know how expected goals was so low at the Etihad. Should have been at least 4. I remember Norwich City away game our expected goals should have been 7 or 8 but somehow only 4.51 and we scored 3 and Leiciester City who won 0-9 only managed 4.38 expected goals and I would say we had more easier chances than Leicester City.

Right, so what we've deduced here is that I was wrong on Spurs. But we've actually got more points than could be verified by xG against the other top teams we've beaten. Fair enough, I digress. And we've always been the better team against lower teams, xG wise. Obviously
