RCD Espanyol v Wolves Preview

Date: Thursday 27th February
Venue: RCDE Stadium
Kick off time: 17.55 (UK)

On Thursday Nuno takes the squad to Barcelona for the second leg tie in the last 32 of the Europa League competition.

After a crushing 4-0 defeat for the visitors at Molineux last Thursday in the first leg, Espanyol almost managed a 0-0 draw away at Real Valladolid on Sunday which would have gained them a point to move them off the bottom of the La Liga table. Sadly, it was not to be as Espanyol had a player sent off and the home side scored two late goals to leave Espanyol rooted to the bottom of the table despite a consolation goal in the dying minutes.

Wolves followed up their mid week victory over Espanyol with a routine home win over bottom of the league Norwich on Sunday. Man of the moment, Diogo Jota came close to hitting back-to-back hat-tricks when his low strike in the 50th minute hit Tim Krull’s left hand post leaving an easy tap in from the rebound for strike partner Raul Jimenez.

Progress to the last 16 in the competition is now all but assured for Wolves, but the travelling fans will be hoping to see another dominant performance in Barcelona.

The draw for the last 16 round will take place on Friday 28th at 13.00 hrs. There will be no seeding.

Wolves are fifth favourites with bookmakers to win the Europa League, with Antonio Conte's Inter Milan tipped to lift the trophy this season.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1 HD

Great result for Rangers, hope we avoid them I was there in 1960 . Not a pleasant experience for a 12 year old.

Who? Nuno or Manuel? Manuel won't, if he cared he wouldn't have fielded the reserves in the important away leg.

Goes to show how moronic some fans are begging for Scottish opposition. We couldn't beat Braga but yet rangers have just beaten them twice.

Celtic fans that I used to work with fancy their chances against us. We can all dream I suppose. They've got to get past Solbakken yet mind.

They should win at home with the away goal already then two scots in the last 16, not sure i would want either of them given the choice yet.

Difficult to judge the Glasgow club's really but I have been quite impressed with Rangers results in the Europa so far. Would dearly love to beat Celtic though, when I first started working with those tw@ts three years ago it was all, 'Who? Wolves? Which division are they in? '

Conor Ronan getting lots of praise for his performances on loan at Blackpool. Worth hunting down the video clip of his first goal for them at home to Bolton on Tuesday. A 30 yard screamer that Neves would have been proud of
