They really fooled us didn’t they!

Got to admit tonight, there I was just finishing work and getting back in time to watch the game. Wasn’t any part of me that thought we’d be troubled in any way especially at home , given our form in recent weeks and the fact that we’d worked hard to get the win over in Greece.

Yes you can’t take anything for granted in football but we were in a very strong position at the start of the night. I just never saw that performance coming from us, honestly thought Arteta would have put complacency at the forefront of his pre match teamtalks all week and it seems that most of what he says to the players seems to have been acknowledged by them in previous games.

Seems like they have been having us on, they totally fooled me tonight because that was an embarrassing performance. Again no one taking responsibility, no leadership, no desire, no technical quality. I keep saying this but no opposition keeper should have a day off at the emirates and we had to wait til near the 70th min to work their keeper. Going out in the last 32 is humiliating.

Let’s take 5th place out the equation because their is a gd chance that City will get that ban overturned. Given the form of Wolves , the resurgence of Utd and let’s be respectful to Sheffield Utd aswell, Chuck Spurs in there, 7pts off Chelsea. Ok we have an outside chance of top 4 but Realistically we have so many obstacles in the way and the players have shown us tonight that they don’t have the fight for it imo. It’s the hope that kills you with this team!.

It’s one thing the fans being a bit confident and complacent. We can be to some degree as we are fans.

The players however should not have been so arrogant and complacent. I think they looked at Olympiakos’s away form in Europe and thought they just had to turn up. How many times are we going to go into games and think all we have to do is turn up. It’s embarrassing and it’s obviously a poor mentality that is deep in the club.

I hope Arteta puts them through a double training session of running today and then drop most of them for the Portsmouth game.

We can’t accept those sorts of performances.

In regards to the rest of the season we should aim to win the fa cup as that looks like our biggest opportunity to get back into any European competition. With the league I’d say Theres a chance of A EL finish but CL I think there’s about a 1% chance tbh. As you say there are a lot of teams above us and I can’t see us making up a 7 point gap and finishing above all 4-5 of those teams. Also I see City’s ban being overturned. Let’s just take each league game as they come and try and win them. Hopefully we have a positive finish.

Thought we were able to get a CL place winning the EL. Dont think we have a chance through the PL. Even a EL place is in danger.

What does it mean for the future of players like Aubameyang? Dont think we can keep him at the Emirates.

Realistically you're not good enough to win the FA Cup.

Totally agree, their was def a certain arrogance in our players body language before kickoff. Like you said, i think they expected to turn up and cruise through. With regards to the fa cup, I can’t see us beating either city or Liverpool. We aren’t good enough quality wise and we aren’t good enough mentally. We have some winnable games coming up and nothing but maximum points can start to cushion last nights blow.

People should know better than to think we will cruise through any game where the defenders won't give Ozil the keys to the defence. In fact I'll go one further and say don't even EXPECT a win if he is playing. Set up as we are, just too much relies on HIM having a good game. That's why this Ozil resurgence was ALWAYS a bad idea. It was never going to end any other way.

Now you see why Wenger always tried to stick him out wide. Middle of the park doesn't become non existent in attack, on the days defenders do their jobs and don't make it easy.
