Thoughts from last night

Have you ever seen a better result and have you ever seen one better timed?

To restore some confidence and calm to a set of fans who'd just seen their keeper banned, their striker not scoring and not sure if a few 1-0's are true sign of form needed to see this campaign out.

I only watched the match late last night after long day, but glad I recorded it and watched the lot rather than the highlights there was some great stuff.

First off, Jack Harrison, best performance I've seen from him to date, he normally gets a lot of the ball but yesterday had some much more impact.

Costa too, constant danger, got to use his pace, great shot on him and just some lovely passes.

The movement getting the ball out of defence at times was superb, just football how it should be, and for all of Bielsa's stubbornness etc, it really is the best football we've played in years and one genuinely wonders what he could do top level players.

I felt Philips was a little muted last night, I hope he's not believing all the hype about him this week. I genuinely believe that he is THAT player that so many talk about as an England player, but needs to not think about that, focus on his process and drag this side with him to promotion.

Ayling runs and runs, another great performance from him, Dallas too, but think Ayling pipped him today, Cooper and White, superb and confidence inspiring at the back offering good cover for Meslier, who to me just seemed a little nervous, didn't have the same swagger he had at Arsenal, maybe because these league matches actually have more riding on them, but a clean sheet (despite no real saves to make) will surely help his nerves and we'll see better distribution to come, having said all this, I have not worries about him at this point.

Regarding the man he replaced....was great to hear the Kiko song sung so early to send the message to Kiko that the fans support him, and on that note, the support for Bamford was great as well, despite him really being pretty anonymous yesterday.

Bamford is so out of sorts, it's really painful to watch now, ideally he'd get some time out of the starting 11, but it's not the Bielsa way.

His replacement Roberts was superb, he is just so well balanced, strong, full of energy, I just wish he could be able to last 10 matches in a row.

His goals were superb, but also cruel on Bamford as they expose his profligacy in the most brutal of ways and there was another sign post match with Klich's grinning comment about needing goals and having Roberts, that its frustrating for the team having a striker who has made their job so much harder for them.

And now Klich himself, excellent play. It's easy to overlook his contribution, which I myself have done at times, but I'm watching him more closely now, his vision is superb, enabling him to not only break things up and start moves but also almost always somehow be involved near the end. Some made a great comment about him this week. "You watch the game you miss Klich, you watch Klich, you see the game"

Him and Harrison were standouts for me yesterday and along with good performances from so many more of the squad at the same time, showed why we were so effective second half.

If Bielsa can get that out of them for every match remaining then we will be champions for sure.

Brilliant result!
