that a complete overall of the squad is now necessary. Now we know this will not just happen overnight, not realistic that 10 players will go and 10 will come in. Football just don`t work like that. It will take three or four transfer windows to even address the problems in the side.
What though, that is abundantly clear is whoever comes in, has to be ready to go straight into the first team from the off, and be capable of playing 40 plus games a season in two or three competitions. The cost of the players will not matter, spending big does not always mean buying well, Ndombele is a prime example of that, and you only have to look at Manchester United to see that just throwing money about like confetti doesn`t always bring instant success. The main thing is we need players that will be up and running and in the 1st XI in August.
What we need is a scouting system that can identify the proper players that we need. Those that can come in and be 1st XI players from the off, no more squad players, we have far to many of those already.
I have been thinking of where to begin with the recruitment, and have put as a priority two midfielders and another striker. I believe with a proper enforcer in midfielder to take the place of Winks and a creative midfielder to play alongside Lo Celso, both would have to be able to tackle and put their foot in, win the ball and deliver it forward. No more of this sideways and backwards nonsense. With a decent defensive midfielders, I believe it would be that much more difficult for the opposition to get at our back four, would be killing two birds with one stone. It wouldn`t suddenly make our defence watertight, but it would help massively. At the moment even the worse of opposition teams are walking straight through the midfield and are at the defence in no time at all.
Also need a back up striker, surely there must be a player out there that can do a job?
That would be a start at least, and would at least hopefully stop the rot. Rome wasn`t built in a day, but you have to prioritise the essential building blocks first.

Yep I’m pretty convinced with ambitious owners, we would of had much more success. We were so close a few years ago And ENIC/Levy never pushed on and we have gone backwards since then. They are more worried about amazon documentaries than they are of winning stuff on the pitch.

Jose hasn't worked up well. Don't blame the players.
The formation, the tactics and the training - which I don't see any changes on that side, have been not what I would expect a top manager to achieve the way we have so far. Very poor.
Even Husenhuttl the Southampton manager had a more tangible and significant impact on his team than Jose has so far.
Jose is good at press conference and he is almost a "reality show" manager. All glitz but no substance.

I disagree that we need ten new players.
We need a manager who is prepared to attack first.
We need Son and Kane back second and we still need what we needed 6 months ago which is two new full backs (left and right) and a top quality centre midfield player.
Combine them with what we have already got and we will be back challenging for the top 4.
Longer term we need a new keeper and a new centre back for sure but players do not become bad players overnight we just need to press higher up the pitch and stop trying to defend leads because we never have been able to and still cant.

I've always said this season is like a free hit for Jose as he inherited an absolute mess but Weds nights game has got me frothing at the mouth.
We lost at home to a team 6 points adrift who had their best player on the bench and need a cup run like another hole in their rse. We spent most of the 2nd half inviting them onto us and with Vorm in goal the equaliser was always going to happen.
Utd at home in quarter final of the Cup is what its all about and thats gone!?
