Wasn’t there on Saturday so this is based on the highlights from Sportscene.
Another step closer to title win number 9 in a row. A comfortable day on Saturday, a 5-0 win that could and should have been more.
The first goal is a classic Griffiths goal, playing on the shoulder of the last defender and it’s a wonderful cross from Edouard, perfect start.
The 2nd goal is not a classic griffiths goal, not many do we see him beat 2 players then play a give and go, which was sublime in itself and then it’s a lovely wee dinked finish, although the keeper was unlucky not to save it. That was a crucial goal right before half time, kills the game off and allows the players to come out 2nd half and play with a freedom, if we weren’t already.
3rd goal is actually good play from Griffiths again, he was involved in 4 of the 5 goals which tells you about how well he played, good first time ball into Eddy and it’s a lovely turn and finish. That said, St Mirren defending is woeful.
4th goal was a bit of a Griffiths throwback, one touch out his feet, no back lift and wallop, into the bottom corner, hat trick for him. That’s him now on 11 goals for the season, he also has 4 assists so 15 goals he’s been directly involved in and for someone who’s season didn’t really start until the end of January, that’s some going.
5th goal was pleasing to see as it was another pen taken well and El Hammed was heavily involved in winning it, he was also running at flooking full pelt to get there which is pleasing given his recent injury troubles.
Obviously with Rangers winning yesterday the gap is now down to 13 points, but the GD is now at 25 clear, incredible and another point so Sunday is now a chance to go 16 clear and give us a chance at winning the title at Hibs in 3 weeks time which given the way sporting events are going across Europe, would be most welcome.
We need to go with the 2 up top on Sunday, play at a high tempo and take the game to Rangers.
I’d go with this:
Ntcham (if fit)
If Forrest starts I might turn the tele aff, can’t deal with the thought of him playing there.
Anyway, 5 wins required as it stands but hopefully after Sunday it will only be 2 or 3 wins
It would appear the players are off to Cheltenham again, I’d have thought with the current situation for this virus they’d have been told no this time round? Anyway, apparently a few left last night and will be back up Tuesday night to train on Wednesday so 3 days off.
