Mason mount

After breaking his scoring drought the other day it got me thinking about his goal scoring potential. Early on in the season I thought double figures was a formality for him. He was taking things early and getting into the right positions, not sure if the lack of goals since was a mental thing or he just wasnt playing as well? With lampard as manager he should be like a sponge, no better goal scoring midfielder to learn from, don't get me wrong I don't expect him to hit lampard levels but double figures ever year is what he should be aiming for, provided he plays.

I agree he’s defo a style of player who at his best should be getting 10+ goals a season. This season his first in the PL, in a dysfunctional team..and he’s yoinger than people realise I think (he’s only 21 but some like to compare him with Grealish and Maddison who are 25 and 23 respectively) he’ll grow

Easier said than done, especially during patches when the whole team aren't playing well. Seems to me that he's scored goals more in matches when we've been playing and attacking well as a team and getting players forward in the right positions.

Also take into account that Mount is only 21. Not wanting to compare him to Lampard but Frank only started getting into double figures in the league when he was about 25 which shows that players develop and improve throughout their early 20's.

Got to have some perspective...Mount is in his debut season in a taxing league, under a demanding manager at 20/21 and expanded a lot energy featuring in EVERY single PL match.
Still coming to terms with the physical elements (normal process of acclimatising and a learning curve), as time goes by...young players will get used to the demands and become efficient.

His role is more than just goals, think people really need to take that in for a minute. Makes selfless sacrifices out of possession frequently, to the benefit of the team.
All things considered...taken to role extremely well in his first full season at a tough competitive high-level with all the challenges.

Post-winter break Mount has stepped it up a gear (as I expected he would), even if the stats don't reflect that.

Mount's tremendous work rate/ethic off the ball sets the tone and energises the whole team.
That's how key he's been this season and why Frank invariably starts him.

He has a way to go to reach Dele levels.

Agreed, but then hopefully he won't think he's made it by the time he is 20

Clucking bell - I certainly hope he doesn't plumb those depths!
