Now that the dust has settled

I’ve always wanted to do that

On to last night;

Played really well, and felt we absolutely battered them. Atmosphere was there and we all felt confident we’d do it. Credit to the Atlético fans they played their part

Adrian had a mare but felt he had a little credit in the bank from the Super Cup so cant hold it against him.......just yet

Really frustrating night but retaining the CL was always going to be difficult.

Just the league to wrap up which let’s be completely honest was all any of us wanted at the start of the season

Aye disappointed and it's a bit of anti climax. However, Liverpool have rarely won the league and European cup in the same season throughout their history. We either win one or the other.

We are a bit like Milan and Madrid in that regard, whereby if we win the CL, we don't win the league and vise versa. My bets in Madrid or City, so depending on who wins that tie wins it for me.

Hopefully the boys can finish strong and beat City's points total. Plus winning the league is the main one we wanted and anything else would've been a bonus. If we strengthen in the summer that should set us up to try and try and win the league and another cup. I think we lack a bit of quality upfront from the bench and a player like Werner would have helped last night. There's always next year of course. 👍

Adrian losing us the FA cup and CL with blunders is up there with Karius. Even in the Super cup he conceded a stupid pen.

Anyway less focus on him. Last night we battered Atletico. The 2nd half was total domination but poor finishing and good keeping hurt us.

Whoever wins it this year will win it behind closed doors. Now that will be an anti-climax

CL will defo get postponed or even cancelled. Italian clubs are done. La Liga isn't far behind.

Apart from Firmino's goal he was poor last night!

As great s Firmino is, sometimes I feel we miss a natural striker in some games, only some imho and one of those was last night.

My money's on Bayern or City personally. I would be surprised to see Real come back and win their tie vs City, Real aren't looking too hot at the minute. Barca are a shell of their former selves and have been largely mediocre under Setien.

No shame in Liverpool going out last night, at least they give it a seriously good go against a top class defence and keeper. The sort of attacking effort Spurs can only dream of at the minute.

We didn't batter them.

We played the game we had to play with some real heros running themselves into the gorund like windy and ox.

They sat back and let it happen.

After we scored simeone went very negative and his subs destroyed their system and it was our useless finishing (and it is useless as we missed the target when it was easier to score several times) that cost us.

In extra time the real truth came out cos they stepped up when behind and we folded. We gave it to them but all game if they had any ambition they were in. felix is wasted at atletico in that kind of negativity.

Their CM was absolutely brilliant.

Top side atletico but won't win it. They'll be exposed by a side who can finish chances.

did oblak even have a truly difficult save to make? (not a dig, top keepers are consistent in saving poor shots)

Like Alisson he is in the right position so he can make a dive to both sides of the goal. Also very good at shot saving where the ball ends safe.
