Tom Brady

If we thought the Glazers weren't as invested on the day-to-day football operations at Man United , now that they've just bought arguably the biggest superstar in the history of the NFL , bringing Tom Brady to Tampa Bay , I'm a bit concerned that they'll focus most of their time , effort and money away from United.
For those who don't follow the NFL , this is like signing Messi or Ronaldo , albeit towards the end of his career.

Yeah that’s what I mean. Brady raises attendances and the commercial earning potential as well. How big a financial boost would they get if they can make the play offs?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not that much. They are a long way from the play offs though.

They have three good teams in their division that they are unlikely to get past.

I’m aware they haven’t been in the play offs. Just wondered how big the financial differences are between getting in and not getting in.

Hard to say, because the NFL model is very socialist insofar as gate receipts and revenue are evenly distributed throughout the league, including playoff gates. Teams actually make very little by making the playoffs. In fact some playoff runs come at a loss after bonus payments and expenses. The only real money they make as an immediate result of a playoff run is concessions sales.

The financial reward for making the playoffs is in increased ticket prices for the following year and bumpier sponsorship deals, but those obviously vary massively by team so hard to put a number on.

Is he still good? I have no idea who he is and to be honest, I think they only care how much money we make for them rather than them having much interest in the team.

Aha.. here it is. Being the coward I am I was waiting for someone to create an article... wait is that cowardice or just laziness?..
Anyway, yes. I do believe this will be an issue.
It shouldn’t have any bearing on Utd whatsoever, in terms of finance, however, the spotlight and the Glazers attention will be 100% focused on the Buccs.
As of right now, the Buccs have a playoff contending team. They tick the right boxes, just didn’t have a solid QB at the helm.
Brady has been telling Father Time for at least the last 5 years now, to jog on. He’ll quit on his terms. An extraordinary sportsman.
What he has shown over the years that he can command and inspire a team of say average talent, and they all pull together. It truly has been incredible to watch the last 13 years.
When he burst on the scene as the back up QB, having been picked, something like 99th in the draft ?! It was really low down anyway, but he walked into a great team. So we all thought the cycle that happens in the NFL will eventually see them drop away.
20 facking years later and they still a powerhouse.
Mental!
It’s gonna be interesting to see, cos this tells me, this isn’t for show. The Glazers are going all in for a Super Bowl run.
And where is the next super bowl?
TampaBay.
Plus, Brady going over to the NFC where the competition is fairly even, gives himself a chance to get to the big one again.
This is a very calculated decision by Brady and the Glazers. and so, I am a bit concerned.
I mean you could just throw it out there, that the planning for this had been in pipeline, where UTD’s philosophy changed in going with Ole.in effect hitting the reset button. We got rid of big earners. And then you have them suddenly paying Brady 30 million per year a year later.
Thirty Million for a 42 year old. Never in the history of the NFL has that been done. And I don’t think you will ever see that again!
But Ole Is doing a good job with what looks like his hands tied Behind his back, but he looks like he’s settling. And hopefully our good form continues.
Next transfer window will be interesting...
Glazers, We will be watching your every move!

They haven’t made the playoffs since they won the super bowl many moons ago. That was soon after Glazer bought them. Been downhill ever since due to serious underinvestment in the team.

Can’t see Brady being enough on his own to get them to the playoffs. Not with the other 3 teams in their division. A lot depends on what they do over the summer and if the Glazers are willing to loosen the purse strings.

One thing is for sure. They’ll be a different team on offence without Jameis Winston throwing 2 picks per game average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It will be different without the Jameis Winston picks, but Winston also got his offensive line out of trouble slot last season because he was mobile. Brady's completion rate when under pressure was the worst it's ever been last season, which tells you he isn't reading the options as quickly. Could be a struggle.

But he had lost Brown and Gordon.
Evans and Goodwin are hot right now. Brate is a decent T.E. and If they their running game gets going.. i don't know what their cap space is, but can't have much left.
I don't expcet them to go to the Super Bowl, but the NFC is weaker than the AFC right now.

I think Brady genuinely believed the 49ers would take him.

him and belicheck haven't been right for a couple years now since the (ironically) garrapolo trade

can't believe TB ever really wanted to end up in Miami but he didn't have a choice at his point, Miami or Vegas really

He wanted to stay on the East coast. To be honest, the way Arians runs Tampa is is a good fit for Brady, but it’ll be interesting to see how much license Brady gets to call plays. Could be great news for OJ Howard. Brady favours TE’s whereas Arians prefers them as blockers
