From a different era, but Man United and the Red Army were back from 2nd Division oblivion and boy did they let everybody know about it.

Wonderful MOTD commentary from Barry Davis too. He must have been a fan as well.

Just listen to the atmosphere created by the Red Army and the wild goal celebrations.

If I remember rightly that Derby team were one of the best of that time. Their defence was pretty much the England defence.

We should never have sacked the Doc. That side would have gone on to win the title under him IMO.

Watched the full match countless times.

A match we didn't win. Was the day after my 21st birthday. Was really ill and only rose out of my bed about 15 minutes before kick off.

Fun fact about that match ..

I once viewed a flat in that complex - that whole old stadium is flats and the pitch is one huge garden - the clock on the top of the stands is still there. I stood in what I assumed was the exact spot O’Shea scored that chip on the pitch and the letting agent wondered just what I was doing as I kicked an imaginary ball.

yea, was a funny old game... The O'Shea shock followed by dashing around the pitch with a big grin on his face will never leave my memory though

Absolutely. No doubt.

Doc did what Ole is now doing.

Got rid of all the old guard who were individually and collectively under performing and creating factions in the dressing room and replaced them with a team of talented kids basically, who all wanted to play together for the club and badge.

Shame he couldn't keep it in his pants.
